It's tough to live up to expectations when you come from a lineage like that. Even considering that, Ryan Couture just isn't a championship level fighter.

Kids of MMA fighters never seem to have the same level of sucess as their parents.

In this case it can be probably be explained by growing up comfortable vs growing up in favelas.

I'm sure that will eventually be exceptions. For instance, a lot of NBA legacy players never reached the level of their parents, but a few far surpassed them. Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, on the same team, are far better than their fathers ever were. And for Steph, that's saying a lot. Dell Curry was a great player in his prime.

Time will come when a prominent fighters kid outshines his dad.
