Miletich was nearing the end of the road about that time. He's a good ten years older than Silva, and was on the decline physically.

All signs point to a younger, faster, and more fiery Silva turning his lights out, but Miletich could have taken advantage of Silva's inexperience. If Takase and Chonan tapped Silva a couple years after this proposed fight, I have a hard time counting Miletich out of this. He would have been a very live dog.

Miletich was past it, but I think Hughes would have done just fine. Hughes was in his prime and Anderson was still a bit a ways from his. 2001-2003 Hughes was just a monster.

I think Hughes would have won if he had fought Anderson in his 1st, 2nd, or 3rd title defense. But I think by the time he got to Sherk in his 4th defense, he was just starting to phone them in because his was just that much better than everyone else at the time. 170 was not as deep as it is now. If the Hughes that fought Sherk, Trigg, or BJ1 showed up, he probably would have lost to Anderson at that time.

Very true...but Hughes had just been KO'ed by Pele right around this period....so I think the fight would have went either way
