Old system with weight cutting
FlW 125, BW 135, FW 145, LW 155, WW 170, MW 185, LHW 205, HW 265

New system without weight cutting
FlW 140, BW 150, FW 160, LW 170, WW 187, MW 205, LHW 225, HW 265

Phase 1. 6 months.

From 4 weeks before a fight fighters will be weighed at random times just to monitor their weight.
Pre fight day a weigh in as usual according the old system.
Just before fight time the fighter is weighed again and this weight will also be announced to the public.

Phase 2. 6 months

From 4 weeks before a fight fighters will be weighed at random times. Fighters are not allowed to weigh over the new weight limits and get monetary penalties for each pound over.
Pre fight day a weigh in as usual according the old system. Fighters still cut as usual.
Just before fight time the fighter is weighed again and this weight will also be announced to the public.

Phase 3. The new system is in place.

From 4 weeks before a fight fighters will be weighed at random times. Fighters are not allowed to weigh over the new weight limits and get monetary penalties for each pound over.
Pre fight day a weigh in based on the new weight limits. Fighters should be all comfortable at around their natural weight so no cutting of weight.
Just before fight time the fighter is weighed again and this weight will also be announced to the public.

In principle all fighters should be capable to remain in their original class. Perhaps the numbers for the new weight limits need to be tweeked. That can be done in fase 1.

So what would the transition to the new system look like for for instance Tyrone the WW champ.
In phase 1 he can choose to do everything as usual. The public however will know exactly what he weighs at fight time and how much he cut.
In phase 2 from 4 weeks before the fight he is not allowed to weigh over 187. He will get random checks and get a monetary penalty for exceeding the limit. A day before the fight he has to weigh in at 170 as usual. At fight time he has to be under or at 187.
In phase 3 the new system is in place and from 4 weeks before the fight all he has to do is never weigh over 187.

just do weight in before the fight so if someone want to do an extreme weight cut he would be so drained that he would get ko inside 10 second

No.

Weight classes are fine. Stop tinkering.

Fix judging, title shots and proper stoppages.

I don't recall this ever happening in Japan

Dudes are always going to cut to try to have an advantage

you can do all that without changing the weightclass numbers, though.

edit: my point being, that making weightclasses bigger etc doesn't matter, because people will ALWAYS try to cut weight to claim that advantage. you can eliminate that, as OneFC have done, by enforcing that your fighters are fighting at an in shape weight, not just cutting.

not if a) no one else is, and b) they have to pass hydration tests.

if everyone has to pass hydration tests, and 190lb guys are fighting 185lb guys at 185 instead of at 170 (or 155 FFS), then i believe the fights would be better. isn't that what we want, better fights?

but right now, if that 190lb guy fights at 185, he's the smallest fucker in there. so he cuts to 170 to fight guys his size. because everyone else his size already is.

but if they all cannot cut to 170 (because of the hydration tests), then they're fighting without dramatic several week long dehydration processes, which they either do (whether they want to or not) because the alternative is to fight guys way bigger than them.

we all know this can be solved, though some don't think there's a problem to solve in the first place. the real question is political - can it be solved across multiple AC's.

my guess is the "2023 Unified Rules 3rd Edition" will include it.

I have an even easier plan: Weigh in 1lb over and your opponent gets to fight with 2 rolls of quarters

Thank you. Compared to this type of shit weight cutting is a minor issue

Judging is costing fighters wins, bad title shots are costing fighters money they deserve and stoppages are costing fighters brain cells

Excessive weight cutting is fighters hurting themselves which is their own issue

Where is the money coming from to monitor all these fighters weights?

Just do fucking hydration tests, thats literally all we need.

The weight classes are fine btw.

cutting weight will always be and it is not cheating.
If you think it must be minimised...the solution is weighing at the fight. Nobody wants to fight starving.
Anyway i don't give a shit about this and shouldn't even comment
