It is weird, you have a fair few NCAA wrestlers etc who go to WWE because of the pay, but when they call it quits from the Wrestling Entertainment industry to go actually fight, they get called fake etc. I mean CM Punk was never that Athletic we all know that. But we are starting to get a few more coming through, hell the old school Entertainment wrestlers would legitimately beat the shit out of people for calling what they did fake. A moment was when Haku actually bit someones nose off.

To answer the question, he is famous for his stint vs Cena, that's pretty much it, he was also known for put over new comers in the industry and help them really stand out when they appear from development to the big stage.

In the end, Entertainment wrestling allows a higher pay in the long term than MMA does.

Pro-wrestling is difficult to explain; it might be the modern equivalent of the traveling theater company. Some people find it highly entertaining. So, liking CM Punk might be comparable to being a fan of traveling minstral or Shakespearean actor in the past.

- Is not athletic
