During the winter at Valley Forge, the lowest point for the US in the American Revolution, Washington was visited by a mysterious female, or an Angel. She spoke to Washington and showed him visions of the future. Many of them were vague, showing conflict between the US and Europe or Asia or others. In the last vision, a dark shadow expanded across the globe, enveloping nearly all nations. The darkness descended upon the US, which was shown in light. Slowly as the darkness invaded the US, the light was suppressed until it looked to be no more. Across the US, the light seemed to be extinguished. However, in the last moments the light flashed and the invaders were repulsed, the inhabitants of America pushed back the darkness and invaders and seized victory. Before the woman departed she said, “Son of the Republic, what you have seen is thus interpreted: Three great perils will come upon the Republic. The most fearful is the third, but in this greatest conflict the whole world united shall not prevail against her. Let every child of the Republic learn to live for his God, his land and the Union.”

This is made up but it’s fun. The three darknesses I assume are the Civil War, World War Two and America turning fascist, as it has been slowly tumbling towards. (And both political parties are implicated.) Hopefully America does as well in the 3rd as they did in the first two.

Or the other one could be climate change/nuclear war? But both of those at peak are total world enders so that can’t be it
