This is the only exception I would allow. If the pizza is mimicking another food, like a bacon cheeseburger pizza or some other such specialty item, it could be good. But in the vast majority of cases, there are better options. I'd probably even suggest jack or cheddar cheeses over American on these.
 
This is worse than putting mayonnaise on french fries.
 
Somebody should be shot for ruining that fucking pizza.
 
That pizza just needed a little Cheez Whiz and some Nutella to balance out the flavor profile.

I used to cover the cheap frozen pizzas with american cheese. I switched to mild cheddar when they started selling it shredded.

Pizza Hut had a special on 2 topping pizzas. I ordered sausage and extra cheese and I was told cheese isn't a pizza topping.
 
Used to do that as a kid. We would just stack all kinds of unnecessary shit on the pizza. I didn't really mind it on there but would probably not do it now.
