AMAZON PRIME & PBC agree to a deal

Whoever gets it I hope they have refusal rights on opponents. Too many PBC fights are 80/20 type fights. At least give me 60/40.

They have the power to reject fights. The issue is that too many of these networks don't even when they know it's a mismatch. It's not really a PBC related issue it's a professional boxing one. We see lopsided matches get made every weekend, mandatories ordered by the sanctioning bodies that stand no chance, guys jumping up multiple weight classes, and so on. We don't see 50/50 or 60/40 matches nearly as often.

I agree … they have One Championship which is cool plus nice boxing shows from Japan… I think it will be a great move by both companies Amazon/PBC … and good for you with $750 to use lol
What boxing shows from Japan? I've never heard of that and didn't see anything about it on a Google (aside from Amazon being the broadcaster for Top Rank in Japan).

Recently I had the good fortune to get a media pass for the week to cover the Canelo Alvarez vs Jermell Charlo fight (shoutout Hustler magazine). I wasn't in Vegas but for twenty-four hours before I had the inside line on both rumours that were swirling around the boxing world. What started off the gossip happened prior to the fight week events when people employed by BoxingScene were running around in a panic telling everyone, "You didn't hear it from me but..." Paramount had supposedly made the decision to end Showtime Boxing and the people heading up BoxingScene were sweating because if Paramount was out of boxing, they would likely axe their support of BoxingScene.

Then Wednesday after the media press conference, I was told that PBC had made a deal with Amazon Prime and that they were taking as many parts of the Showtime Boxing crew as they could.
I'm glad about this in a way., assuming it goes through. Its one more streaming service I can get rid of. 2 actually.

I'm hoping that it's Amazon Prime. They appear to be the frontrunner at the moment for PBC to land on.
I like Amazon Prime only because it will be easy for me to watch. But as Amazon is new to sports do not see them building it.

ESPN+ has been making strange moves lately as they go from family friendly to worldwide sports. Some of their choices I question like their offer to major franchises to get shares in ESPN+ and their new partnership with Penn National (who sold back Barstool Sports (smut podcasts) and, Rough N' Rowdy (RnR) midget boxing) so Penn can rebrand its current sportsbook to ESPN BET.

If ESPN+ wants to compete on the worldwide stage with a base in USA sports that have a worldwide audience they will need to put money into boxing.

I agree with a lot of this but Amazon Prime Video has held rights to broadcast sports for 6½ years now. For comparison DAZN launched less than a year prior. Amazon also still holds a lot of rights in individual markets and globally (particularly within the US & UK). PBC could realistically air their cards on multiple networks as they've done in the past. I wouldn't be surprised if they went that route again.

Amazon plays lots of sports now, and even has ONE FC on there
I hope it's amazon personally

They still hold regional and/or international broadcast rights with the NBA, NFL, MLB, WNBA, ONE, Ligue 1, UEFA, live boxing events within the Japanese market, ATP, Premier League, WTA, etc. Last year Amazon also launched a dedicated live sports channel called Sports Talk that provides 12 hours of coverage daily. They're an established brand and invested in sports enough to where I'd be happy with them as a PBC distributor. In the US only YouTube and Netflix are larger video streaming platforms.

That’s also my prediction …. At least 2 different outlets in 2024 for PBC

Multiple broadcast distributors just makes sense at least initially. Test the waters with some of them and then eventually select the one that's their best fit. Spread it around rather than put all of their eggs in one basket upfront.
