Media Amanda Lemos during weight cutting process (insane)

Extreme Weight cutting is stupid. Why doesnt everyone just “move up”. They’ll be fighting the same people except everyone is just hydrated.
The issue is the lack of weight classes. I get why the UFC doesn't want to create a bunch because we see in boxing a lot of the belts become meaningless. Impossible to just have everyone move up with people cutting down and all that. Thems the breaks. Lemos should move up tho. She had a good run for the type of fighter she is so move up and have fun fights. Can't blame Lemos, I think she beat better skilled fighters by just being powerful and bigger.

Yep. Fought in Brazil at bantam, made her debut in a losing effort to Leslie Smith, got popped for PEDs, took two years off, came back as a Strawweight and KOd a few cans.
I mentioned this in a thread or two during 292 fight week. I think it was embedded episode 2 where I saw she looked really ill. I surmised it was probably that big cut.

Honestly, she has to fire her whole team. Why would you go through all that to fight in a tougher division when you could spare all that sacifice and fight in the upper division where 99,9% are bums? Makes no sense at all...

Funny I never considered her that big for 115 either. A lot of the work and dieting should be done in the 4-6 week camp prior to the fight.

Look at someone like Weili, she's probably below 8% body fat.

Lmfao so ridiculous that these fighters put themselves in these kinds of dangerous situations just to get a weight advantage. Just fuxking fight in your natural weight class!

it obviously didnt work, she went down a weight class trying to be a weight bully but ironically got ragdolled.

Some actual bums have already fought for the title at W125, Lemos could be in the top 3 within 1 or 2 fights there. Half the top 15 are bums.

I like Lemos, but judging from how dramatically different she looked after she came back from the 2 years PED suspension, it was pretty clear she'd spent that time getting even more on the juice. Girl came back looking like a body builder.

She was def benefiting from the gear still. I can't forgive her for what she then did to my girl Mizuki, who is far more skilled than her everywhere and just got bullied.

Fucks sake. Isn't fighters needing to get wrapped in foil confirmation that this weight cutting thing is out of hand?
It's a futuristic space blanket! Too bad space is flat though.
The Earth is a sphere but they're hiding flat space from us.

Absolutely stupid idea...

Ill never understand it ...nor will i do it ...the most ive ever cut and that was my own fault because i joined a BJJ tournament rather late was 10lbs ...thats my max for anything..

Her body is being depleted and destroyed overtime and in the end she lost rather badly too which makes all this suffering even worse cuz it was in vain...

Maybe if she spent more times on skill development instead of weight management she would of done better against Welli...im all for getting in shape during camp but if over 70% camp time is just about making the weight...that sounds inefficient to me...you have 8-10 weeks to prepare for a specific opportunity and opponent why waste it on diet and depletion in the hope you being bigger is enough...seems back wards ... especially because most martial arts were designed for the smaller less physically stronger to succeed in combat... and instead of hoping being bigger makes you better then your opponent you could just be training and become you know Better then your opponent.

Bigger isnt always better...

Ive said it once and ill say it again...if the only reason you think your gunna beat me or win is because your bigger come fight night... you've already lost ...IMHO

Okay my Rant is over

I can't sympathize. Weight-cutting in this case is purely self-imposed. She has the choice of a heavier weight class.

Yea it's dumb, but everyone is doing it, just like PEDs. Too much on the line to risk staying 10lbs above the required weight. Even as just a casual competitor, the last time I did a tournament at my natural weight, I got bulldozed by a Ken Monson look alike. More weight classes would help, but fighters will absolutely go for every possible advantage, even if it means risking death.

9 guys there for support. Looked like they were gathered around his death bed at one point.

That’s ridiculous, and needs to stop.

Especially considering that these days, we've seen plenty of examples of guys performing better without the drastic dehydration.

A few years back, a guy like Frankie Edgar competing at 155 was an outlier. You just didn't see guys not cutting a bunch of weight. Still doing shit like this now makes no sense at all to me.

Thats why ill always have undying respect for Bj Penn, Frankie Edgar , saku and those type of fighters because they understood this ..
