Am I the only one... (Pac vs. Oscar)

The last few rounds is where DLH really took a beating. Yeah, he didn't go down, which is why I think Pac should go back down to 135-140. DLH took a lot of unanswered shots, and it could have been stopped, but I thin the ref gave DLH a chance to regroup, which never happened...

I agree pacman doesn't have 1 punch power at that weight has never been a 1 punch ko guy he has been more of an accumulation type of fighter punches in bunches and breaking you down.

I was watching the post fight presser and interviews on the Philippine news

Pacman said he felt pity for oscar and pulled back and was throwing flurries just to get the ref to stop the fight instead, roach told him stop carrying the fight and knock him out....but oscar quit before pacman was gonna finish him.

Pacman also carried the fight with marco barrera in the rematch he needs to stop pitying guys cause they can play possum

Dont forget oscar has one of the most amazing chins in the business.

im no pro, but i have been in situtaions where im sparring with someone who is just plain faster and kicking my ass - you get hesitant and less confident quickly

Freddie Roach in the buildup to the fight mentioned that Oscar had confidence issues.

can somebody explain to me the two rounds were he threw no punches as if he was looking for the ref to stop the fight or whatever. He didn't seem hurt because he never went down at all yet threw nothing back and didn't even try and tie him up. What was going on there?

Three words...Ef. Eye. Ex.

that feels like that fight didn't really prove much of anything. Everybody is praising Pac as if he just beat a prime Oscar at 147 which is far from the case. I think he deserves praise more moving up and fight a "name" fighter but that is all Oscar is these days. Freddie said it best post-fight. He watched the Forbes fight and Oscar could unload anymore he body couldn't do what his mind wanted. So, if that is true and it certainly look pretty evident to me what is then so impress that now Pac can be anybody and everybody just from beating Oscar who look weak, slow and fragile? Somebody elighten me on how this fight was such a great victory for Pac? As I said he deserves credit for taking the fight and the fact that Oscar could've had one more good fight in him and hadn't lost it completely. This could've been the case. However, with his previous fight and now this one that is clearly not the case.

I generally agree with what's been said here. This is not to take anything away from Pacquiao, who is a beast, but the Oscar that turned up was just a shell of his former self. I can't count the number of idiots I've spoken to over the last few days who now think that Pacquiao would 100% dominate Mayweather. The DLH fight cannot support that argument at all. Pac may be a lion, but Mayweather is boxing's very own lion-tamer.

This reaction is kinda expected. Quite the opposite before the fight where fans and boxing critics alike were saying that pac bit more than he can chew, that he was fighting a far more experienced and bigger opponent. Now that he won, people tend to downplay the win by saying he won against an over the hill has-been.

DLH wasn't weak, slow or fragile. It was just that Pac was so good during the fight that it looked as if DLH has nothing to offer. Imagine if Pac wasn't the opponent, will DLH still look that slow or weak?

Yes. I'd honest to god fear for his safety if he went in against Cotto or Margarito.

Pac's proven himself to be a ring legend but we have to be honest Oscar was the personification of a shot fighter. Roach even said DLH was shot after the fight. I feel it belittles DLH to say that guy how fought on Saturday was the same boxer we've known for the past 15 years.

I dont know but listen man learn about boxing first before you start talking like the fight was bs.

Watch bj penn vs sean sherk when someone is dominating you and presenting you with a jab or punch that keeps touching you it fucks with your head and makes you cautious in countering because you are getting stung by a jab or punch.

throws you off your game big time.

Oscar was trying to time his jab he couldnt because he couldnt find a target, he is a experienced boxer not some wild swinging wanderlei silva type or houston alexander.

Oscar has always been like this watch his fight with ike quartey which was supposedly one of his best, he is cautious for long periods and tries to counter and time his jab.

It pisses me off hearing people say the fight is fixed or its bullshit, because they never boxed before and are ruining pacmans victory...it is sad to me cause I doubt pacman can carry the sport now even though he is the most exciting fighter around who always gives his all...I guess him not being american makes it hard to follow him.

Excellent post- RIGHT ON!

i thought it would be war and thought both could win the fight. i had it if it went the distance to a close split decision to either. but in no fucking way did i think manny would school oscar the whole fight. that was as one-sided a fight can get.

He deserves all the praise he's getting, Not many gave him much of chance and said if he did win it would be by decision, they critisized this fight for being a freak show and said it was only for money.

What's most satisfying is the fashion in which he beat him and how he proved them all wrong.
