that feels like that fight didn't really prove much of anything. Everybody is praising Pac as if he just beat a prime Oscar at 147 which is far from the case. I think he deserves praise more moving up and fight a "name" fighter but that is all Oscar is these days. Freddie said it best post-fight. He watched the Forbes fight and Oscar could unload anymore he body couldn't do what his mind wanted. So, if that is true and it certainly look pretty evident to me what is then so impress that now Pac can be anybody and everybody just from beating Oscar who look weak, slow and fragile? Somebody elighten me on how this fight was such a great victory for Pac? As I said he deserves credit for taking the fight and the fact that Oscar could've had one more good fight in him and hadn't lost it completely. This could've been the case. However, with his previous fight and now this one that is clearly not the case.

de la hoya might be out of his prime but alot of ppl didn't give pacman a chance (boxing analyst, boxing experts, fighters etc.) and then he came in and beat de la hoya in dominating fashion. pacman proved everyone wrong. he deserves all the praise hes getting right now.

Pac didnt just get a win over DLH, he absolutely dominated him from the opening bell. DLH had maybe 10-20 secs of highlights in the entire fight where he was expected to be too big for Pacquiao despite his age and inactivity.

Pac desrves all the praise in the world. He dominated. I'm sure there will be plenty who will try to minimize this defeat but regardless, what Manny has done over his career will never be repeated. This guy started as a flywt and now just knocked off one of the best fighters ever. at wltwt. Yeah, Oscar is past his prime but he is still a quality fighter. Very few gave Manny a chance even with Freddie echoing that Oscar is made for Manny. Alot of people were taking verbal shots at Freddie for even wanting this fight. All in all, Freddie inititiated a plan and Manny executed it to perfection.

Ok.. Almost no one expected Pacquiao to win except maybe a handful of people and all of the Filipinos. Oscar by KO is the most common answer you would get from most guys even so called expert boxing analysts and fighters.

Not only did Pacquiao did the unthinkable and beat the taller fighter, he destroyed him to the point that Oscar is considering retirement. Yes, Oscar is out of his prime but still he was the favorite going into the fight. Anyone else moved from 130 to 135 to 147 in less than a year and win it all? That alone deserve all the praise he is getting now. It validated Pacquiao's stature as one of boxing's greats and he provided a boxing clinic Saturday night.

It was a great victory for Pacquiao. This fight may have made him a household name throughout the world and not just the hardcore fans. Plus, he's 11+++ million dollars richer. :)

Once the hysteria dies down that fight will be remembered more for Oscar than for Manny. An end of an era fight like Chavez-DLH or Lenoard-Norris.

The best incarnation of DLH at WW was the one who fought Mosley the first time...that was 9 years ago.

That being said, Pac-man beat DLH who is still DLH. I didn't see the fight, but he was jumping up in weight.

If you had seen it, you'd agree that it didn't look much like the Oscar we've known all these years.

He gave Pac all the credit in the world though. Maybe we should do the same.

Loved their exchange after the bout:

Pac: "You're still my hero."

DLH: "No, now you're my hero!"

Agree, that was pure class from both fighters.

Oscar looked mind-numbingly awful to the point where I found myself questioning many times whether the fight was fixed or not. No head movement, refusal to throw any punches...Pac did what he had to do and looked great, but there's no way Oscar is the fighter he was even a year ago when he took on Floyd.

pacman shocked the sht out of a lot of us in this fight - i thought he'd have a hard time getting around the jab - i think he got around htat with movement and keeping DLH from establishing the tempo

im no pro, but i have been in situtaions where im sparring with someone who is just plain faster and kicking my ass - you get hesitant and less confident quickly - you're right though, he did fight PBF last year and didnt look as bad - he did get tooled by PBF though, the split decision was bs

you know whats funny alot of ufc fanboys talking shit about this fight saying it was trash and waste of money, but they praised the lopsided schooling bj penn dominated sean sherk with...but yet this total domination of an underdog rising to the top in a devastating fashion is bullshit.

sherk just took jabs all day

oscar took left hands all day

what is the difference besides pacmans performancing being more explosive and exciting?

Excellent post.
Pac definitely proved me wrong, I will be the first to raise my hand and tell you I didnt give him a snowball's chance in hell of winning this fight.
Pac cemented his greatness even further on saturday night, and all the praise he is getting is completely deserved.
I cant wait to see what he does next. Pac's story isnt over after all.

Nacho telling him to give up made me wonder but in truth...the rumors from his camp were bad.

can somebody explain to me the two rounds were he threw no punches as if he was looking for the ref to stop the fight or whatever. He didn't seem hurt because he never went down at all yet threw nothing back and didn't even try and tie him up. What was going on there?

I think he was hurt, stunned. Oscar didn't just look bad there though; he looked terrible from the opening bell. Actually he looked terrible warming up -- it was like he couldn't break a sweat.

I think he just got old in a hurry and struggled with the weight more than we anticipated. But like I said, he gave Pac all the credit and maybe we should too.

The last few rounds is where DLH really took a beating. Yeah, he didn't go down, which is why I think Pac should go back down to 135-140. DLH took a lot of unanswered shots, and it could have been stopped, but I thin the ref gave DLH a chance to regroup, which never happened...

I dont know but listen man learn about boxing first before you start talking like the fight was bs.

Watch bj penn vs sean sherk when someone is dominating you and presenting you with a jab or punch that keeps touching you it fucks with your head and makes you cautious in countering because you are getting stung by a jab or punch.

throws you off your game big time.

Oscar was trying to time his jab he couldnt because he couldnt find a target, he is a experienced boxer not some wild swinging wanderlei silva type or houston alexander.

Oscar has always been like this watch his fight with ike quartey which was supposedly one of his best, he is cautious for long periods and tries to counter and time his jab.

It pisses me off hearing people say the fight is fixed or its bullshit, because they never boxed before and are ruining pacmans victory...it is sad to me cause I doubt pacman can carry the sport now even though he is the most exciting fighter around who always gives his all...I guess him not being american makes it hard to follow him.
