All Time GOAT poll

Nope.

I think he already is but this will just confirm it more.

If stipe wins it’s not even a question, he’s far and away the best ever
In his dreams maybe. He still wouldn’t be ahead of Fedor in any significant metric, I don’t think. Ranked wins, title fight wins, title defenses, former/future UFC champs beaten… Stipe wouldn’t be ahead of Fedor in any of those.

I’ll def be cheering for Stipe though.

GSP has more top 10 wins and consecutive title defenses and he dominated a more stacked division. Stipe is 40 years old, hasn't fought in 2 years and is coming off a loss so a win over him currently doesn't mean much, but if Jones defeats Ngannou and Pavlovich I would say yes.

Based strictly on resume, he's clearly already the GOAT.

Only strike against him is the steroids.

(as a Fedor fan)
Respect and due to Fedor fans like you I try to avoid Fedor vs Jones debates as it comes off as I don’t like Fedor. I respect his accomplishments but I became a fan around the beginning of Strikeforce and have seen almost every Fedor fight since then

Simple, no way, not even in the "mma math" equation.
No GOAT would cowardly hide from every single HW for 3 years.

Also more losses. There are very few fighters on GSP’s resume that were viewed as legends in their prime and even those that were aren’t close to who Jone fought. Matt Hughes simply has nothing in overall skillset that would be relevant today. BJ is a legend but much smaller than GSP and he gobbled up that opportunity twice but would only grant that opportunity to a one eyed Ping on the way out the door. You can talk all day about the things Jones does outside of fighting in a cage but on terms of who he beat and how GSP isn’t close to Jones. The sad ass truth is that we are in the video era and if it wasn’t for fans like you saying his name he would have been LONG forgotten as his fights simply don’t convince fans that watch in retrospect he was the greatest at anything. His highlight reel can be summed up in a short video

Those metrics are largely irrelevant when you consider the people he fought. Stipe fought better competition and it really isn’t that close. Time has passed.

Not to mention stipe KO’d a better version of a fighter who beat fedor in his prime. Even the head to head comparisons, stipe’s wins were far more one sided and devastating.

Because pundits and peers don't rate fighters based on how pretty a record looks on paper, which any forumrat could try with a quick look in wikipedia. Otherwise Sugar Ray Robinson would not be widely regarded as the best ever in boxing with the amount of losses he took, specially late in his career.

Fedor and specially Jones have a legit case of his own because they held the #1 p4p sport for longer than anybody else.

And regarding Silva and GSP in particular, it's not that hard to understand:

Anderson is also proven to have juiced up.

There’s always going to be an asterisk with him, unfortunately. Ignoring that (or assuming they’re all in something anyway) I’d say yes. I’m a huge fan of GSP outside of the ring. But Jon’s run is pretty undeniable.

The only valid reason to not have Jones as GOAT is PEDs, and him beating Stipe obviously does nothing to change that.

So either Jones is already GOAT, or he'll never be.
