Edit: Since there are a lot of weightclasses you don't have to name your top 5 in every weight class if you don't want to.

Solid Choices tbh bro

One ELO site says:

Fedor, Stipe, Big Nog, Cain, Werdum
Jones, Wandy, Chuck, Tito, Rampage
A Silva, Izzy, Weidman, Mousasi, Whittaker
GSP, Hughes, Usman, Woodley, Lawler
Khabib, Penn, Alvarez, Henderson, Poirier
Aldo, Volk, Holloway, Faber, Pequeno Nog
Cruz, TJ, Sterling, Barao, Torres
DJ, Fig, Moreno, Yamaguchi, Urishitani

Now, a Russian recently added his own ELO to sherdog in the last few days, and I would be very curious to see how his ELO stacked up against fightmatrix….later I’ll try to find his name and add him to this thread.

And yes, ELO definitely favors longer careers, AND sometimes produces head scratching results.

Edit: who wants to tag @Владислав?

If you are going to use fightmatrix I don't see why you wouldn't just use their all time lists. That way all wins and losses matter and not just top 10 wins that are weird cause they don't update their rankings enough. Example Arona was obviously top 10 when he lost to Shogun but the way you do the rankings it doesn't count but it probably does in their all time rankings.

Because their all-time lists aren't based on top ten ranked wins, but rather duration (which can be inflated for fighters who aren't very active).

i will admit to being a lazy fightmatrix user myself :) I know it’s highly configurable. I just never do, since it’s only one mathematical model for reference which most people will disagree with anyway.

But I do think it adds, being involved in the conversation.

Probably higher than Forrest, Tito and Rashad. Probably lower than Rampage and Shogun. And Chuck, Wandy and DC are total wild cards (eg some have them in the top 5 and others have them in the lower top 15).

He is a great example of how and why no one list will ever get 80% approval.

I think the only way to get the “best” result is to get 1000 lists and collate them. But even that list would probably get shat on my most fans, including the 1000 that participated in the exercise.

This is how it should be done

I was going to make a list but yours is phenomenal...only minor tweak would be elevating Liddell to second greatest LHW..but that's probably my own bias speaking

You could certainly make a case for him being included. But the Machida era was short lived. Thanks Jon Jones...

Interesting there is no Faber and Wandy. But solid none-the-less

well, none of them were the 3 judges ringside

Yes because we all know ringside judges never get it wrong and are 100% correct all the time right. Bro you don't even have to go back further than 12 months from now to find multiple fights where everyone can see just how incompetent some of these so called judges are

The Hendricks fight was in 2013 and the majority of people including a lot of GSP fans felt that he lost. Even Dana himself said that he lost the fight
