All Time GOAT poll

2008 was Emelianenko's first Affliction fight.

The top 10 HW in the UFC at the time (apparently)
were:
1: Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira

2: Randy Couture
3: Fabricio Werdum
4: Gabriel Gonzaga
5: Frank Mir
6: Brock Lesnar
7: Heath Herring
8: Cheick Kongo
9: Brandon Vera
10: Cain Velasquez
It's so hard to say which fighters would have been easiest or most difficult for Fedor or JBJ.

Potentially:
JBJ and Fedor would have beaten all the weak grapplers.
Fedor may have beaten the best strikers with his iron hands and chin.
JBL may h
ave beaten the best strikers with his range & IQ.
Cain and Lesnar are the scariest ones on this list and I think Fedor and Jones have equal chances against them.
All that being said. JBJ has less wins but higher quality wins. No losses. I favor him as best of best.
(Sorry long post but I'm bored at work).

OP Said that Jon is the goat...but doesnt put him ahead of Fedor

Bruh

But OP fails to mention what makes Fedor the GOAT

Was it his big win against Zuluzinho?

I said he's the Greatest of All Time UFC fighter.

Note the 'UFC' there.

I then compared him to other UFC fighters to evidence that he is, in fact, the UFC GOAT.

But being the UFC GOAT has nothing to do with Fedor, who never fought in the UFC.

I could run through Fedor's accomplishments, you're right, but for me they speak for themselves.

31-1, facing and beating the best competition around, the same guys that went to the UFC and won or at least fought for the belt - CroCop, Nogueira.

Fedor beat the greatest HWs of his generation when they were in their prime and in their 20s.

Jones beat a poor man's CroCop and is now aiming for 42 year old CTE Stipe.

Can't compare the two.

In my opinion, last night Jon Jones cemented his position as the Greatest Of All Time UFC fighter.

There's no question for me.

He surpasses Georges St Pierre and Anderson Silva, the only other names in the frame.

He does so because, unlike GSP, he never dropped a clanger against a Matt Serra-type, even though it's likely that all great fighters will lose at some point or another. While Anderson is still up there in terms of his sheer dominance for such a long period against all comers at 185, he also falls short having never moved up to LHW and claimed the belt there (though he did win multiple fights at 205).

What Jon Jones has done in the UFC is entirely unmatched.

However, that doesn't put him ahead of Fedor.

Fedor's run through the heavyweight division in PRIDE (and elsewhere) prior to his defeat against Werdum at 31-1 is unmatched by anyone - except Jon Jones.

Jones now draws alongside Fedor, and you'd have to toss a coin to decide who is on top. Jones has more time, and is perhaps more likely to exceed Fedor's accomplishments in MMA, but here's the thing:You c

If Dana had signed Fedor in 2007, when he was still winning fights against both good (Sylvia/Arlovski) and poor (Choi/Rogers) fighters, and put him up against the best the UFC had to offer (including, eventually, Lesnar), there wouldn't be a debate at this point.

The only reason there is a credible debate about the #1 GOAT in the history of MMA (not only the UFC) is because Dana failed to sign Fedor.

You can't blame Dana for that. The UFC didn't have unlimited pockets at the time and was bleeding money to grow a brand. It seems to me both money and who would promote his fights were sticking points.

Jones is undeniably good , but lets wait until he runs through a few of the HW's who have a modicum of grappling experience before waving the ' best eva! ' flag.
Gane was losing on the ground to Francis ffs.

ROFL Sherdog really on fire with Jon today.
It has nothing to do with Jones. I never felt stipe was that great. He benefited from a week division and fought guys who had been brutally finished and were past their prime. I forgot the average age of his opponents, but it was mid or late 30’s. I don’t see him having any answer for Jones.

If you lived the Jones era of dominance, you’d know he looked like his old self last night. I don’t know how you think Stipe would defeat that.

Prime Cain, JDS, Josh Barnett, and DC would’ve been catastrophic matchups for Bones. Gane isn’t a complete fighter.

Gee I don't see Josh Barnett troubling Bones too much (as great a fighter as he was). I think Jones can keep the distance against JDS, he prefers to box and Jones prefers to kick. DC well he beat him twice, prime Cain I'll give you.

Never believed in a single, absolute goat. My MMA mount rushmore consisted of Fedor, Gsp, Jones and Anderson. Well, Jones is now a level above them.

Maybe the best LHW, but you can't have one fight at HW and then be considered the best.

Jones is undeniably good , but lets wait until he runs through a few of the HW's who have a modicum of grappling experience before waving the ' best eva! ' flag.
Gane was losing on the ground to Francis ffs.

Francis has evolved his ground game. He dominated Stipe on the ground in their rematch too. I'd love to see a Jones-Ngannou fight...it would break records!

I really dislike Jones for his outside the cage behavior but I admit it's getting harder and harder to deny his claim. The thing that throws a cloud over it is him getting busted for PEDs and the apparent fall off in performance in the last few LHW fights. But for him to absolutely steamroll Gane is undeniably impressive.

They best fighters he ever beat are Nog, Crocop, Arlovski, and Randleman and they weren't all that great. Jones defeated much better competition without being brutalized by Bigfoot and Hendo level fighters (good but not great). Cro Cop was poor man's JDS.

Jones wins and now HW is shit lol..

Maybe i dunno..

Crazy thought..

But maybe just maybe Jones is simply that good..

The guy was world champion at 23 and never lost after that...

That's Tyson/Mayweather type shit...it really shouldn't of been such a surprise for everyone.
.

If u actually knew what u were watching ofcourse...the experience of Jones is all he'd ever need to beat a guy like Gane... Gane thought he was safe but didn't respect Jones craftiness and got tapped...
This whole narrative that Jones sucks has been pushed so hard that now people are defaulting to the entire division sucks and Jones loses to "all these guys but only in their prime". Basically they give him no chance at all to prove himself to be the best.

Jones is the best LHW of all time. But how can ge be the HW goat if he has 1 win over cyril gane lol
He won't even be the greatest HW if he beats Stipe, he wouldn't even be a greater HW than DC. People seem to think you suddenly take ones accomplishments once you beat them.
