All Time GOAT poll

Careers need to be looked at in total , therefor Fraudor should not be in this list at all.

These GOAT threads never end.......OK, I'll bite

These are the only fighters that have a claim to this title IMO
Jones
GSP
Anderson
Fedor
DC

Jones is the most dominant MMA fighter of all time and it's not even close. He's fought the best of the best and only a few times has looked to be in any trouble. With that said, he's a cheater so he clearly cannot be the GOAT. We don't know when he has been on or off the juice, so it's hard to say if he would have lost to Gus or DC without PEDs.

Fedor was really good, but definitely not on the same level as Jones, DC, or GSP. I think it can be argued that he was as good as Anderson, but his lack of legit competition really hurts the case. Fedor also became mortal almost overnight once he started fighting in the States. I have no problem with the fact that he was most likely juiced to the gills in PRIDE because everyone else was too. What I do have a problem with is the fact that he got absolutely handled by Bigfoot and looked like shit against Rogers and Arlovski other than landing a big bomb when he really wasn't that old.

Anderson was great. He was about as dominant as it gets during most of his run, but I feel like he really benefited from favorable matchups. I think that fight with chael really ruined his chances at GOAT status for me. Yes, Chael was on the juice, but Silva probably was too. I don't think the rib thing was that big of a deal. I think Anderson would have had problems with power wrestlers like that, but he didn't really fight to many in his career because they were in other weight classes.

DC is the second most dominant fighter in this group. Other than the Jones fights, he has looked pretty unbeatable other than a brief few moments in his MMA career. DC also seems to be a clean fighter, which really ups his stock. The only thing that hurts DC's claim to this title is that he lost twice to another guy on this list. Peds or not, that looks bad.

GSP had an aura of invincibility about him in his prime. He was boring as fuck, but you just knew he wasn't going to lose. I don't think anyone has ever fought at the same level as GSP in this sport, and he is probably the most well rounded fighter of all time. He wasn't as dominant as Jones, but I feel he fought better overall competition during his run. The biggest issue with GSP is the lack of finishes. I have no idea if he was a cheater as far as PEDs go. He looks dirty as fuck, but he never got popped.

Conclusion:
GSP is probably the GOAT at this point in time, but there is no clear cut favorite in this list. They all could arguably be considered the GOAT, as a case can be made for all of them. I will say that this conversation will be much easier if Khabib defends his belt a few more times and beats Tony dominantly. It will be hard to dismiss an undefeated fighter with over 30 wins that was never even challenged in his prime against multiple elite fighters as not being the GOAT.

In terms of strength of schedule and overall record it has to be GSP. I think it's hard to even argue otherwise. He was untouchable and probably fought the highest ranked/best opponents at the time of the fights and completely dominated. He got a bit boring at times, but who could blame him? There's a lot on the line.

Jones, Anderson or even Aldo are probably the most talented fighters of all time so far. Unfortunately Jones and Silva will always have an asterisk next to their names for cheating.

Fedor is my favorite fighter of all time. If he retired after knocking out Arlovski he would be my GOAT.

So he loses GOAT points for continuing to fight and challenging himself against killers? And GSP earns GOAT points for retiring at 32 and only coming back for 1 fight against Michael Bisping? Both Fedor and GSP showed signs of decline at age 32. Only difference is GSP quit the sport while Fedor continued facing challenges. I don't see how we can hold the losses against 33 and 34 year old Fedor when GSP retired at 32 and Jones is still only 31????

Fedor

Anderson
Jones

GSP
Aldo

That's my ranking. Big gap between Fedor and Anderson and Jones, than GSP and Aldo follow closely behind. Both Anderson/Jones and GSP/Aldo could be changed around as I rank them very close. I have absolutely no idea how anybody can dispute Fedor being the GOAT. There's nobody who has accomplished anything close to what he has accomplished.

Fedor checks all the boxes.

-Extended of period of dominance
-Zero weight cut
-Tremendous skill and well-roundedness
-Always looking to finish with a high finishing rate
-Never cheated
-Revered among peers
-Humble and a great ambassador of the sport
-Dana hates him

No disrespect to any other candidates but it's pretty straightforward imho. GOAT.

It's also a shame that most people base GOAT candidates on success at a particular weight-class. Guys like Saku, BJ, Hendo etc were absolutely incredible fighters and deserve more recognition.

Could be the 1st poll on the GOAT that Fedor doesn’t win.

Him or GSP deserve it but Jones is young enough to overtake them

The 6.6 percent of you sherdoggers who voted for Silva sure are a vocal bunch, that's for sure.

MMA is not a sport.

mma is sport ENTERTAINMENT imo

CM punk was allow to fight in the UFC.

I challenge you to mention a legit sport that allows individuals with 0 experience be part of a professional game?
Manny Pacquiao - part of a shitty professional basketball league.
Tony Romo - plays golf a lot, participating in major competitions.
HM
Brock Lesnar - played a couple of pre season games in the NFL for the Vikings.
Trying to remember who I saw was allowed to play an inning in the NHL

I don’t care if Fedor has less wins and/or has fought a handful of cans, Fedor has ALWAYS fought full-grown, HW men.

That, and the fact that he’s never popped, and has physically DEMOLISHED a great part of his competition, compels me to refer to Fedor as the all-time GOAT.

If DC, Miocic, or ANY other HW for that matter, go on a HW killing spree, I’ll change my tune.

Johnson resume is too poor to be in contention. Even though he was far less consistent Hendo resume is much better, his best wins are probably better then anyone. He deserves to be in the discussion.

I understand some may disagree, but for me it's Georges St-Pierre. He's the defining champion of my era when I first got into MMA-he was they guy everyone was talking about, obviously Silva too at that time, but I think GSP career wise achieved more and ended his career when he was still a champion, still a winner which people like Silva, Fedor were unable to do so.

He also went through his career without failing any drugs test or suffering any suspensions for cheating/doping-which is increasing rare these days.

St-Pierre is the GOAT for my money.

The absolute state of this poll.. People value more GSP retiring at 37 years old (ducking all challenges) than Fedor signing a HW grand prix and made it to the finals at +40 years old.

Not only that, GSP arguably lost to Hendricks and retired rather than fight him again. At age 32.

He only came out of retirement when the champ was an old guy blind in one eye.

GSP has an amazing resume but he's too safe, ducked too many guys, and retired too early.

Also, if GSP and Fedor fought, GSP would die.

wow must have a lot of noobs voting, Fedor never loses these polls, let alone to GSP. Shocking.
