A lot of the casuals don’t even know Jon cheated. A friend of mine in real life told me jon Jones is the goat because he’s not a cheater like silva.

Goes to show, where the poll is posted and who’s responding has a lot to do with the credibility of the selections

29-0 is great and all. It's super impressive but when you fight the best of the best a fraction as long as the guys I truly believe are ahead of him, I just can't put him up there with them.

Fighting the best in the world consistently is generally what leads to you fighting longer fights and people getting to understand what they need to do, to be successful against you. He just left before it could happen.

I truly believe that he was not going to be able to continue to make '55, believe he didn't make '55 for his fight with JG (Video footage of the official weighin shows the scale never steadying at 55 before the guy weighing him just stops it), the elation on his face when they say 155 leads me to believe he didn't think he made weight or wasn't sure and was relieved when they said he was.

That move to 170 would be a big jump and the top dogs there are wrestlers, legit ones. khamzat, Usman and Colby alone all would pose wrestling threats he never once had to face in his career because the only decent offensive wrestlers were not good fighters.
 
Khabib is just about as talented as anyone we've ever seen inside the octagon.

However, the lack of a decorated multi-year title run resume is what'll keep him out of the GOAT conversation.

Even a clean Jon Jones beats contenders 50-45, referring to the OSP fight. You can perpetuate your hate but trying to discredit by saying “he’s nothing without steroids” is stupid.

And the NSAC addressed and changed the rules or protocols. Only cutmen handle vaseline these days.

But for people to act like GSP did it himself, which his haters do constantly. Or to pretend it was some kind of planned way to cheat are just fucking lying. Especially when there are at least Two filmed instances of Silva actually rubbing it on himself.

It’s just a coping mechanism for his haters. But it’s beyond pathetic and a freaking lifetime ago. GSP’s haters are the epitome of Rent Free. And no matter what they say or how long they obsess over it. They aren’t changing anything. At some point you’d think they’d accept it for the unintentional act it was and move on.

He didn't test positive for most of his fights therefore it doesn't matter? I disagree with that logic, because there isn't a single fighter on the UFC roster who has failed more tests than fights where they tested clean. Thats not a reasonable criteria at all. Even a serial cheater is unlikely to have more busts than fights in which they didn't get busted. As an example, if a fighter has 15 fights but tests positive 3 times, do you honestly believe they were clean for the other 12 fights? Jones is up there as being 1 of the most frequent to have failed tests in UFC history. If a fighter didn't have his name brand value & career, UFC likely would've kicked them off the roster by now. UFC is known to cut people for a lot less

During Fedor's reign as Pride HW champ, there was only 6 UFC fighters who ever got busted. UFC testing at that time was a joke, only idiots would fail back then because they literally officially knew ahead of time when they would be tested. You just had to cycle properly. Also, there were many yrs where only UFC fighters in title fights & main events would be tested, supposedly due to a lack of funding. USADA's random testing is much more legit, though some people will still find a way around it.

If we only judge based on resume, without considering for PED, yes, I do think Jones has the best overall resume. But it is very hard to ignore his history of drugs for many fans, so it depends if you're 1 of those who think they're all on PED & it doesn't matter, or if you're 1 of those whom believe any drug fail should disqualify someone from being GOAT.

Why would he chose to start doing peds at the tail end of his career, coincidentally right when USADA testing was implemented? Using a steroid that has side effect of weakening the bones, after a leg fracture injury?
