Again, I'm going to have to disagree somewhat. Yes, Jon likes to catch kicks and he's good at it but Gane knows that and he is also a world class kickboxer who understands setups, counters and these things. The oft-played gif of Frank catching his kick and taking him down was because it was the last thing in the world Gane expected. It's not going to happen with any consequence in this fight. For instance, Thiago Santos, another good kicker, was able to blast Jones with impunity. Gane will kick low, counter kick, pick his spots for the higher kicks, etc. Now the big point is that Gane has probably the fastest jab in the higher divisions and it does damage. His jab and jab kick alone ended the Tuivasa fight. It's lethal over time and accumulated damage. Jones is a relatively slow, flat-footed, plodding pressure fighter who can only fight moving forward. He will be eating hard jabs all night which, with the threat of a hard knee, will keep him from shooting in space. It will also open up his kicking game as Jones has to worry about multiple threats standing. Jones' only possible chance in this fight is to take Gane down and act like a wet blanket for at least 3 rounds and you can be assured that he will try to do that. Gane, I believe, is too good to play into the hands of a one-dimensional wrestler but only time will tell.gane doesnt have one punch KO power, gane doesn't stop people in the 1st round, gane has no ground game, etc, etc. gane cant be throwing kicks, cause jones is going to catch it and take him down. this is just going to open up more standup opportunity for jones. gane has to be cautious. his best weapon are kicks. he can't be throwing them like he do. jones has all of the tools, has the body, his bros are all HWs with fast twitch, this is going to be an easy win for jones. noobs judging it off of a uninspiring performance against whoever.... whatever, he still won. jones wins 100%.
i think the threat of jones takedown, is way greater than any other thing, and that will open up striking for jones. gane aint going to get an early stoppage. his best wins are derrick lewis and blackbeast. hardly elite HW. jones easily wins, he avoids the strikes, tires him out for a round or 2, and then works the wrestling. easy win.Again, I'm going to have to disagree somewhat. I hear you bro but Jones ain't winning the striking battle, threat of a takedown or not. He has to get the takedowns and hold Gane on the mat for at least the majority of 3 rounds. He didn't come close to that in the Reyes fight, despite trying with an effort that bordered on desperation, and Reyes was a LHW and not even a wrestler. I hope Jones makes this a good fight but I really don't give him much of a chance.i think the threat of jones takedown, is way greater than any other thing, and that will open up striking for jones. gane aint going to get an early stoppage. his best wins are derrick lewis and blackbeast. hardly elite HW. jones easily wins, he avoids the strikes, tires him out for a round or 2, and then works the wrestling. easy win.

No, you're right. Jones is anything but a one dimensional wrestler, usually. But in this fight that is what he is reduced to because of the nature of the HW division and because Gane is a level above him in the standup. Jon doesn't have dynamite in his hands, he's going to have to wrestle and get it down and control Gane there. He doesn't have any other realistic chance.I am all for Jones getting slept but "too good to play into the hands of a one-dimensional wrestler", what did Jones do to you sir? He's literally the opposite of a one-dimensional wrestler.
Not only does Jones have to back up all the promises and trash talking he's done in the last 3 years, he has much more on the line than Gane, while Gane has little, if anything to lose.
If Jones loses, he eats crow like no one ever before. The last three years of bragging, promising and belittling his potential opponents will come back swiftly and with a vengeance. He can't say he cleaned out the HW division, he can't say he is the undisputed overall GOAT of MMA. He loses his "undefeated" record, he could suffer a humiliating stoppage that will circle the internet for decades. A loss to Gane, while he is supposedly clean, will enhance the idea that all his good wins came against smaller fighters not in their prime, while he was juiced to the gills.
A loss to Gane means the end of Jones' career. He will not try to work his way back into contention in the HW division by fighting Blaydes, Aspinall, Pavlovich, or anyone else. He will take his paycheck and spend it on coke and strippers, and whatever else he plans to do in his retirement.
For Jones, losing means the dreams are over, but not so for Cyril Gane:
Gane is just entering his prime and a loss means nothing because he has nothing but time. Gane will simply go back to work and work his way back up, which is the mindset of a true career HW.
Not only does Gane have little to lose, he thrives in that mindset. His ability to deflect any sort of pressure and stay loose is one of the most important keys to his success. While Jones instagrams his body transformation, his pad work, his past accomplishments, and belittles Gane's competition, Gane is staying confident and nonchalant. This reminds me a lot of the dynamic between Holly Holm and Ronda in the days before their fateful meeting. Which, incidentally, marked the end of Ronda's massive hype machine, and ultimately, her MMA career.
Literally going forward against Lyoto and ReyesLol.

Jon does thrive under pressure, but this is more pressure than he has ever faced, so we will see how he handles it. The HW division is shallow. Someone as good as Gane will always be in the title picture, maybe a couple fights away at most.2 things
1 Jones has always thrived under pressure and when he has something to prove.
2 gane has a ton to lose. We will have lost 2 title fights to 2 different dudes and that will set him back a ways . There's also the fact that Jones steals souls and guys are not the same after.
Both dudes really need this win . If anything Jones already has 50 built in excuses to lose ...how many does gane have ? I do not think your assessment is correct at all.
Ok, I get it. You're a troll, congratulations.Literally going forward against Lyoto and Reyes
Troll for what he pressures them as you see he is better when opponent is pressuring himOk, I get it. You're a troll, congratulations.

I mean, both these guys are faster and more dangerous strikers than Gane, and he beat both..Lol.

Gus rematch is proof that he is better of back foot
No, no he is not better, he flat out sucks on the back foot, he goes into survival mode. He only does well when he can freeze people in front of him at kicking range. Gane's not going to do that.
uh, no, he didn't beat Reyes unless you're a terrible judge of fights, and Gane would wipe the floor with both anyway. Yes he's the most dangerous striker Jon has ever faced, how can you say he's not with a straight face?I mean, both these guys are faster and more dangerous strikers than Gane, and he beat both..
gane aint throwing kicks willy nilly, that threat of getting dominated by a better grappler with better GNP is real. 100%. those prefight videos of ganes wrestling training is laughable. they have no clue what they are doing. gane doesnt start strong, he has no power in his punches, he cant be throwing kicks like he does against other HWs, his best wins are blackbeast and tai. come on man. jones easily wins this. theres a reason why every fighter says this. they talk. they hear things. jones team has been getting results. he understands whats at stake. it's too big of a fight to go out there and look stupid. jones doesnt do that. combined with his fight night performances, easy win IMO.I hear you bro but Jones ain't winning the striking battle, threat of a takedown or not.
