Absolutely. I also think that the soft reaction that these elements encountered from most of the Capitol police emboldened them and gave them the impression that they had the right to be there. People like this woman who (given her background) should have known better, tuned into mindless sheep following the herd, acting as if they were above the law.
Their privilege was granted and allowed to be exercised by the local cops who were supposed to protect the perimeter and security of the outside of the building. They for sure were enablers. This reinforced their warped beliefs.

Fortunately their privilege was not recognized or allowed by the law enforcement officers protecting the people and rooms inside the building.

No, they broke into peoples businesses though, and didn't just trespass, but destroyed them. But they're the little people, so it's okay.

I don't put these political scumbags on a pedestal, they're no better than the average American. But you apparently do.

It's not about the political scumbags but the institution and process of democracy that was literally ongoing as they broke through the doors and windows.

Not gonna lie dude, you're a moderator and this post is in horrible taste.

Not a good look.
"Would" posts are pretty common when a lady dies, if anything I at least added the disclaimer that it would be a tragedy regardless of whether or not I "would"

Don't leave out the part about purposefully trying to sabotage a democratic process for an election for a free country....Canceling out half the country's votes.
Yeah just ignore that giant elephant because it doesn't suit your narrative.
Leaving that out = False Patriot.

Sure thing, bro. Try entering a locked public school through a smashed window while classes are in session and see how far the school's being a "public building" gets you with the armed security guard.

I'm sure he'll be thinking, "There's no way I can shoot this guy because this isn't by house."

Honestly I have know idea what this means lol.

I am not saying that what she did was a well thought out plan for a long life. But the police have a duty not to use lethal force unless their life or the life of others is at stake. I am sorry but potential property damage is not good enough to warrant people getting killed. The police have all sorts of less than lethal options available to prevent property damage. I think her estate (husband) has grounds for a excessive force claim personally.
Should they have waited until she was within striking range and threw a punch? This is crazy to me, police shootings are argued as justified for a lot less than storming the fucking Capitol Building. How would these police officers know that these belligerent protesters-turn-rioters have only peaceful intentions?
Yeah, I don't report anything. Not once in 15 years.

I get it that the lefties snitch on others CONSTANTLY and that's why right-leaning folks get jammed up more. Is well-known. I can roll with that and I didn't intend to be caught up in any mod-tagging, I was just whining about it as you said and was quoted.

That said, it was pretty fucked up in the main march thread earlier today. Before she was even shot. I guess lefties are also very "team-oriented" when it comes to their stance on police violence against protesters and calling for it based on multiple posts.
None is allowed/approved for BLM/Antifa and nobody was even shot for 6+ months during all that BS---yet an unarmed woman is shot dead after any sort of unrest started here, within a very short time, and the lefties cheer her death. Pathetically typical, unfortunately.
"Why are you guys not modding these posts we refuse to report?!"

Annoying and putting a little fear into a bunch of corrupt, bought and paid for sociopaths ranks quite low compared to what happened to many victims of the BLM riots. But hey, fuck the little people.

Our democracy is more important than any person or business on earth.

While I agree with the sentiment that personal responsibility is vital the truth is both sides are actually disenfranchised.

Yes she does, the evidence was not looked at quantifiably in the 60 cases.

It's disingenuous to say the election was fair either way. Acting like the right has no valid claim is directly contributing to the problem. You're just repeating talking points while shitting on 75 million people that have valid claims.

There are obvious problems with the voting system (as there has been for 20 years), completely disregarding that is why people stormed the capitol in completely irrational unplanned lunacy. Stop acting like the right is 100% wrong about everything and has zero cause for concern, it's equally cult like when people on the right shit all over George Floyd and the black "thugs" as if they have no reason whatsoever to be pissed at the government.

I literally said in the final paragraph that there ARE issues where both sides are screwed over. I didn't say the right is 100% wrong about everything. I am specifically talking about this story and the ridiculous comparison that I see rightwingers make to actual, provable, obvious issues that we have in the criminal justice system.

The election was a fraud story was grade A horse shit.
Is our election process flawless and can't be improved? Obviously no one would say that.
But Trump and his followers are saying that there is a mass conspiracy where the election was STOLEN from them. That 1,000s of dead people voted. 1,000's of illegals voted. 1,000's of people voted 2x. That is bullshit. 60 court cases. You don't get to waste the court's time with outlandish claims with no credible evidence. If the evidence was so damning and overwhelming it should have been easy to prove it--there were whole lot of Republican politicans and judges that wanted to make it happen for Trump, who was stopping them?

People stormed the capitol because they are idiots that were misled by a bigger idiot.

I was actually supportive of some of the protesting about the COVID lockdowns in Michigan. That is a legitimate grievance. You can't shut down people's businesses AND give them no means to make a living. That's legit.
This CT shit isn't..

It is unquestionably wrong the way in which some police interact with the people they are supposed to be protecting. There is a clear problem in our system that results in the imprisonment and death of too many people. That is a real and tangible issue that anyone with eyes can clearly see. That is a real grievance.

Babitt flew from San Diego to DC to protest an election that Trump fairly lost. An election that has had recounts and has had 60 tries in court to prove fraud. She then storms our nation's capital with a bunch of goons to try and force elected members of government to give the election win to Trump. She does not have an argument. She was not disenfranchised. People like Babit that were going along with this election fraud story have zero standing.

I agree with your overall idea that the government/system has disenfranchised people on both sides, and that we shouldn't quickly dismiss and demonize people. COVID and the lockdowns for example are issues where both sides were screwed over, where we demonized each other instead of the politicians that got us into the mess. But THIS story is not a 'both sides' did some shit story.
If you resist arrest you've put your life in danger that's not the cops fault if you get hurt as they now have to elevate that use of force against you.

Plus you are a piece of shit at that point for endangering everyone else around.

The country was being held hostage by radicalized angry white people who tried to stage a coup by means of terrorism.

Why would I give one ounce of a fuck about one dying in the process?

Our democracy is more important than any person or business on earth.

Firstly, we have a Republic, not a democracy. And its not much of a Republic anyway, it's a bunch of bought and paid for cunts doing whatever their financiers tell them to do, Some Republic. Secondly, there was no play on our Republic yesterday, if there was, it would have looked a lot differently. They didn't use any lethal force whatsoever. Had they staged a coup, they would have certainly been far more violent. Lastly, if lethal force is okay for them, then it's okay for everyone else. I don't care what you or anyone else thinks is or isn't important, it's not your place to determine what is or isn't valuable. What's nothing to you is everything to someone else. If its okay for the politicians, it's okay for the little people too.

Even if she threw a punch I don't see how that is grounds for lethal force. If the officer is in fear for his life because a lot of people are punching him or if the puncher is Fedor then sure. But a 140 lb woman on her own throwing a punch at you would not be grounds for lethal force because the officer's life is not in danger nor would a reasonable officer perceive his life to be in danger.

Whatever you say idiot, you lost me at the first sentence, because you're wrong.

They sure did one hell of a job trying to endanger our "democracy"(It's a fucking Republic) by not using any lethal force whatsoever.

The more times I see that vid of the shooting the more I begin to wonder if it's an negligent discharge. When cops shoot they basically empty their mags... they rarely do a single shot then stop, that's some Hollywood shit.
