Jussie Smollett records ordered unsealed...
After news organizations sought to unseal the records, Smollett’s legal team opposed the request, citing the actor’s privacy rights.
But Circuit Judge Steven Watkins held that those privacy rights had been trumped by Smollett and his attorneys going before the cameras to declare his innocence.
“These are not the actions of a person seeking to maintain his privacy or simply be let alone,” Watkins said in a 10-page ruling that he read aloud in court. “While the court appreciates that (Smollett) was in the public eye before the events that precipitated this case, it was not necessary for him to address this so publicly and to such an extent. By doing so, the court cannot credit his privacy interest as good cause to keep the case records sealed.”
Don't look for too nefarious a motive. His family drew on their powerful connections to try get everything buried. Really no different than we might expect from anyone's family that has ties to wealth and power. What made this so difficult for them is the guys own personal fame combined with the fact he just couldn't keep his mouth shut when everything unraveled. If he was just a "normal" scion of influence this would likely have been swept under the rug successfully just like they wanted.Everyone wants to pile on Smollet, but really he is just a sad, mentally ill person. What has been really disgusting about this whole story has been how everyone around him has enabled and assisted him in lying and covering up his crimes.
What he did was bad, but the fact such a large support network appeared to help him lie, spread hate and ultimately escape justice is so much worse. We even had a guy here running interference and trying to bury the story early on. This is a far reaching problem in that community that seems to permeate the entire culture.
What's sad is how far these people's actions have set back race relations and what suspicious is how it almost feels like that was the goal.
As long as I don't have to watch any more of that cringe interview.
I knew that little shit was lying as soon as I saw that utter nonsense. Nobody was allowed to say it because he's black, but everyone knew he was lying through his teeth.
Why does it take two weeks to release records in this case after a court order when they can be sealed immediately? It doesn't make sense. And why isn't the Chicago media asking this question. Does anyone doubt crooked Chicago is going to find an excuse to hide things?
The Chicago papers have been going all out against this. They're definitely NOT on Jussie's side in this. They understand how this debacle makes the city look from the outside.
Another hilarious take... The Judge unsealing Jussie's records is citing the actions of Jussie and his Lawyer (claiming his innocence after the hearing) as the main reason for proceeding.

Hahahahaha..... His lawyer has totally fucked this shit up
I know the Chicago papers have been fair for a change, but shouldn't they be asking why Kim Foxx has said will take two weeks to release the records that could be sealed immediately?
Non-issue... 2 Weeks is light speed in the court system. Sure, it could go faster, but 2 weeks lets the shit fester while the media continues to speculate on the next step of Jussie's demise.
It's also just fun seeing how many clowns get taken down (or at least seriously splattered with shit) by the end of it. Kim Foxx's career is likely over, sooner or later. Even if she survives this, she'll never get re-elected.
And Tina Tchen is a career political worm. She'll just go back underground, doing work behind the scenes cleaning up shit behind the scenes. This is what someone like her does, only in this case, her name got in public, which is problem for these types people.
In the end, this dude is completely fucked. He'll probably never work on TV again. If he does, it'll be some garbage show that no one cares about anyway. I was mildly surprised that the whole show got canned though. It must have been on the way out anyway. Though it's lot's of fun to blame Jussie for it being cancelled.

Excellent post.Agreed man , actually feel kind of sorry for the guy , he's a bit pathetic.
Was eating lunch in the cafe of a grocery store a while back , back when they first dismissed the charges. They have a TV in there and The View was on . One of the chicks brings it up that they charges were dropped and half the audience erupts in applause , even the host that brought it up had a wtf look on her face.
That I don't care as long as its a " win " for my team attitude is toxic as shit.
Both sides engage in it heavily btw
I know he's guilty, but did he confess in the interrogation? I thought I heard that, but a friend said no.
Did he confess?
Haha the show is cancelled and the racist flamer will never work in movies/TV again. It still would be nice if they put his dumbass in jail like he deserves, though.
They renewed his contract but said they weren't sure if he would appear. So he gets paid, but might not be on the show.

No, but the brothers spilled the beans and he paid with a check. lol
