The national public clearly wants the guy to be made an example of, but the prosecutor's office probably doesn't feel it should be on them to doll it out on their dime. That's just my guess.

Felony charges, though? You don't get out of that shit, because they don't want to bother. It would be one thing if they said they didn't feel the case was strong enough to move forward, but all I've seen so far is that they let him off the hook for good behavior.
