He did not identify any innocent people, so it is a guess, but he told the police he was willing to do identify people he certainly knew were innocent of his accusations. So it's a good guess.

Smollet seems to deserve jail time for crimes he seems to have committed. Wishing that he would be appropriately punished or appropriately exonerated is just.

No there is actual evidence of that. Juicy was on his way to identify the two perps that the police had in custody and as soon as he knew that it was the Nigerian brothers he changed his tune and was unwilling to press charges. That’s not debatable. Also you have to remember that a witness said she saw “redneck looking white guys.” I think you don’t know much about the case to write words like “getting upset” and the rest of your post

Also it doesn’t sound like speculation if you know the current political climate in this country. A gay black man who is a semi celebrity...beaten, thrown bleach on his person, and forced to wear a noose around his neck.....that would cause country wide protests and have a significant impact on race relations. Retaliations etc would be expected and something very bad could have unfolded. That’s just the current world we live in

Yeah. Still waiting for the police to comment on his manager's involvement, I would imagine he's as guilty of lying to police as them or cut a deal and admit he lied for Smollett.

Doesn't seem like the neighbor who saw two white rednecks with a noose and told the papers has faced any punishment either.

The American Public can be forgiving, especially for a guy like this. All he had to do was come out and admit it was a terrible idea and that he was genuinely sorry for all the problems he cause for everyone, including the police. You know... show some remorse.

A good portion of the public would forgive him and moved on... (there will always be some people who won't).

None of this shit would have been exposed and he could have made good with the brothers for dragging them into this fiasco.

Now, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up on a Celebrity Deadpool... either self inflicted or somebody looking for revenge.

Damn. I would just text a guy for a meetup, or walk to his place, which was like 5 blocks. Then legalization came to WA, and he moved to...other drugs before I saw his house months later and the kitchen had exploded from a methsplosion.

I have on good authority of a court doesnt find you guilty that means you are innocent

Yes he did? He specifically accused the Central park 5 and took out ads calling for execution.

They were exonerated by DNA. He still maintains they are guilty to this day.

Courts assume innocence not guilt. So while I assume Smollet is guilty based on the facts in play, a court should not, which is why I included the bit about the possibility that it would be appropriate to exonerate him.

You aren't claiming that you aren't important and thus your messages won't be used against you in the present though. You are claiming you are not important and your messages will not be used against you now or any time in the future under any circumstance that may arise.

Odds are that that will still be true, but that is a big difference and not something as easily accepted.
