Media Aljamain Sterling 'Confused' By Preliminary Card Placement at UFC 310

well Aljolame let me unconfuse you.

Nobody is going to be watching this card anyway. It sucks and there's too much important college football going on that day.

I have to admit I'm confused by it as well. UFC seems to put a lot on Pantoja to carry cards by himself. We're not sure about buyrates anymore since it's on ESPN+ but the 301 card heading into it was considered to be the worst PPV maybe ever. This one has some big names on the PPV card and undercard (purely names this card is loaded) but Sterling should be a featured fighter especially in this title eliminator situation. But, I guess they feel it risk being boring between two guys who often go to the decision and just grind out fights.

Here’s why he’s not on the main card:

He’s not very engaging in the octagon.

AND:

- When given the belt through a DQ cried like it was a hard battle with false sense of genuinity.

- Bragged about it and taunted Yan when he postponed the rematch due to iniury.

- Won split decisions with Henry and Yan which never bodes well with the fans if you’re already not likable.

- Beat old man unroided TJ Dillashaw.

In short his path to the belt and his actions throughout were not very honorable, I’m not justifying it but it’s understandable.

If I was a fighter, I would want all my fights to be on the prelims
Don’t have to wait around
Fights over, grab a Modelo, kick back and watch the main card

Weird, i remember some people telling me that fighters don't care which card they're on.

It is certainly a head scratcher in terms of, sure people may assume coming in that it'll be boring, but this SHOULD be a title eliminator (don't remember many cases of a champ moving up and having to still run he gauntlet) if not result in a guy who will be in the next eliminator, so you don't want them to have no exposure now. If you wanted to bury them, you should have been doing it long before they got to this position
Figgy and he just lost after winning three in a row

His brand/likeness has already been established and Aljo being on the main card is hogging up a spot for an up and comer who might be able to sell in the future. I'm assuming this is Hunter Campbell and Dana White's mindset. And they only had to back him because he was champion.

It's probably the "Main event" of the prelims, gets people to buy the show last minute?

Only explanation that makes sense

I get the idea of trying to put fun fights toward the end of the prelims, but no one can defend how purely crap the match orders are.

Kron Gracie has no business on the main card, he hasn't won a fight since 2019!!!
It's because they want to push their far right posterboy Bryce Mitchell for the countless redneck good ol boy UFC stans with an impossible to lose striking showcase against Kron, who barely even fights. Have Bryce get a spectacular but predictable KO then do an obnoxious, fallacious post fight interview full of christian conservativism and conspiracy theories for additional views. Dana and co. want to pollute MMA and the general public with his definite post truth conservative propaganda routine to help secure their socioeconomic dominance over their fighters and the media by constantly catering to right wing, company man fighters.

Matchup wise there's no fucking way Bryce loses for a multitude of obvious reasons, so his attention seeking backwards ass BS after the fight is all but guaranteed. Anything for engagement and clicks I suppose...
