Media Aljamain has had ENOUGH of butt scooters

I don’t know why but I thought he was grappling chase hooper

but yeah, I know obviously it’s not real fighting, but immediately sitting down in a real fight gets your head stomped on, they should emphasise takedowns more

Idk dude maybe try and pass their guard if they sit.

You’re supposed to be this really good top position grappler and AFAIK they normally don’t allow heel hooks and really don’t allow much other leg attacks other than straight ankle locks when they ufc guys grapple at fury so he shouldn’t be too worried about getting into a leg entanglement

butt scooting isnt really that big of a problem depending on rule set. ADCC, fight pass invitational, EBI etc

TLDR: Sterling has shit guard passing when it comes to pure grappling and complained about it

The problem isn't guard passing skills, it's people abusing a rule set to negate an entire part of the sport.

Guard is way more rewarding that top position in modern sports BJJ. If you immediately sit down in all of your matches then you can focus on only training guard 100% of the time and game the system

Plus it's supposed to be a combat sport, I know it has deviated from that but butt scooting makes BJJ look like that Olympic karate that disqualified someone for hitting too hard

You'll probably flame me anyway but here I said it

Butt scooting is lame af but there’s already a proven effective strategy to counter it. Just don’t play their game. Make the ref tell them to get up. idk what Aljimain is on but probably has to do with his new diet.

STFU Aljo your backpack style ain't any better

In this UFC fight I want want to see a man ride another man's back for 15 full minutes.

SAID NO ONE EVER!

No I wouldn't flame you for what you said because to a certain extent I can agree with you. I think the problem specifically in this match was sterling just didn't have an answer to what he was seeing and got frustrated. I do disagree with guard being more rewarding in no gi especially when the ruleset bans heel hooks, and other "twisting leg locks" that really neuters a lot of the stuff a modern no gi guy has.

Tons of people at the top of the sport prefer top position like nicky rod, mason fowler etc

Maybe if it wasn't sterling doing the complaining after he was pretty passive trying to pass. He was pretty content to just sit in a really lose half guard and talk to the crowd

Fair enough.

correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not really a grappling guy and like to follow the sport from afar but are there even major no gi tournaments that ban leg locks ?

From what I could gather they're sometimes banned in the gi format but they're all the rage in no gi.

I like the ADCC ruleset btw, at least when someone doesn't want to fight for a takedown he has to concede a point.

Aljo should have went with the tried and true Shutdown Schaubjj technique.

I always wondered why all the blame was on schaub and no one criticized cyborg abreu for this match

Guy was content butt scooting and flip floping during the whole match and made it a point to never stand up and engage

It takes two people to make a fight boring

Enters JiuJitsu competition.

— Struggles to pass his opponents guard

— complains.

Classic Aljo.

No major No gi tourney's ban them that I know of unless it's in the kids and beginners div. Fury doesn't except when UFC guys are competing.

ADCC has a good ruleset and the last UFC Fight pass invitational was good it pushed the action and they would give out negatives for a straight sit to the ass. I prefer those rulesets for sure
