I don't think it has anything to do with Israel at all. I think the world is too obsessed with Israel tbh and also with end of the world apocalypse predictions. These are either secret government projects or non human entities. If it is secret government tech then one would wonder where they got it from.

There's a reason why the laboratories of independent geniuses like Tesla and Leedskalnin get raided after they die. We humans can be clever creatures. However, in the wrong hands, that cleverness can be dangerous. It can also pose a problem for "national security", or for those that would seek to be in constant control.

Reverse engineering would obviously imply an alien presence, which gets a bit more complicated.

Neither is a poor explanation, as far as I'm concerned.
