Alien: Isolation discussion

I beat the game roughly 6 months ago on Hard all the way through (I'm probably gonna play through it again a second time now that some time has passed). I loved the hell out of it. I found myself purposely dying just so I could make sure I went back to explore every possible piece of ship I could. It was just an all around wonderful game and I will truly be devastated if they never make another one.

Btw, I played the Crew Expendable bonus pack, but I haven't played any of the others. How are they? Worth buying?

Also i never found out if any weapon hurts or kills the alien.

The flame thrower and molotov scare it away but that's about it. I even shot it with the biggest baddest most powerful gun you can get.....the Bolt Gun. Charged the gun up and hit the alien right in the chest. It seemed to rock it a bit and caused it to stumble (more than anything else was able to) but otherwise it just kept coming.

Spoiler tags bruh!

The game was meant to specifically be survival horror. Not a game where you can run and gun the alien down. I love it even more for that. Have you played Colonial Marines? Fucking sucked.

Got it when it went on sale. I actually had a tough time getting past the first blockade. Said fuck it before i found out why it sucked.

Bumping an old thread here, but holy fuck I love this game. I've been playing non stop for the past few days.

I had played it before, right until the alien stalks you in the doctor offices. I got frustrated and stopped playing

I love the franchise/lore, and have been listening to Alien Out of Shadows audio book while away for work. It's part of a trilogy that takes place between the first and 2nd film. Sigourney Weaver does the voice work for Ripley, and the legendary Rutger Haurer (sp?) Does Ash, the Android From the first film. He's uploaded his consciousness into Rilley's escape vehicle.

This plays perfectly on my Steam Deck. I'm near the end I think, in the reactor area.

The attention to detail is off the charts. It's a perfect companion to the novels and the early survival horror aspects of the first film. Apparently they were given multi terabytes of material from the first film to use in the game, from concept art, footage, sound effects etc... They made great use of it. Can't wait to play the DLC, especially the Nostramo portion.

Those Working Joe's and the lore are my fav aspects, especially the former. They scare the shit out of me. I find the Alien more often annoying, but the tension is real. I can only imagine this in VR.

it's a fantastic game, one of my favorites ever.
for anyone wanting a walking around atmosphere, there's a way to edit some game files so that the Alien basically doesn't exist in the game, it just sits in some vent somewhere, and if it's not in some cutscene or important for furthering the gameplay, you don't ever see him.
so it just turns into a stroll through the Sevastopol station, and the only baddies are the working joes. you can walk around without the anxiety inducing hunt, you can read in peace all the communications.
