I don't know how I feel about the xeno embryo being a polliwog because then that kind of invalidates the face hugger hanging on for so long if apparently all it has to do is jizz in someone's throat.

I don't particularly like the polliwog being able to survive and grow in a lung - if it can do that then why does it need a live host? Seems like it breaks canon.

That said, I enjoyed the episode. It's far from a perfect show but I'm enjoying it.

I guess it needs to gestate in live tissue and absorb nutrients from the host. The lung was still functioning since it was receiving blood to keep it alive

Is the alien that popped out of the lung the exact same development wise as the aliens from Alien 1? When it jumped out? It seems the same to me but my friend said it’s more snake-like than the usual alien that pops out of stomachs.

Hmm, that's a good point, I feel like it takes something way just gestating in a single organ though. It doesn't ruin that show for me or anything but it seems off and also kinda negates the facehugger needing to latch on for so long. That polliwog just got in there and got it done

Honestly shocked how good this series is.

One thing I like is how it continues a bunch of themes from earlier Alien movies.

--Alien-Human connection from Ressurection

--Human search for Immortality from Prometeus. Transhumanism.

--Robots finding Aliens more notable, admirable, and "better" biological lifeforms than humans from Covenant.

--Plus the usual Robot-Human relationship from... pretty much all Alien movies. Alien should really be called Alien and Robot.

Its neat how it manages to both be fairly original and still thread in the earlier iterations footsteps.

Is borrowing and linking back to the worst entries in the franchise a good idea though?

The facehugger latching on for a while still makes sense.

It keeps the host incapacitated and prevents them from immediately seeking medical attention and removing the parasite, and whatever sedative it uses seems to make the person not remember the event either.

It also prevents other people from interfering with the process, as trying to remove the facehugger typically causes it to kill the host either through constriction or with acidic blood if they try to cut it off.

In alien 3 Ripley was weeks without even knowing.

In resurrection the guy ran with them the entire movie till it came out at the end

Incredibly good series. I have to start by praising the style it has. I get some Hannibal (TV series) vibes - art I would call it.

Episode 4 was the best so far. The office scene was really scary. When she sat over the scientist, her eyes looked completely lifeless. Damn!

The little octopus with the eyes feels like the main antagonist of the series right now. It is intelligent and feels like pure evil. I think Wendy and the baby alien will work together against the sheep's eye.

The lung was being kept alive artificially, it was "breathing" in that tank of liquid, which was seemingly water.

One could assume it was being supplied with blood or something that would keep the lung "living."

I did not like 4. The ending scene was bad. Basically we have friendly aliens and we didn't need to know they have inteligent thought. The cgi eyeball alien is just uninteresting.

Maybe they are setting some queen alien origin but this thing of the robot just being able to reason with the Aliens doesnt make sense.

The modern Hollywood trope of trying to make the evil monsters into sympathetic characters with feelings, dreams, desires and noble ideals?

possible scenarios
1. We already know the aliens won't get out of hand on Earth because they weren't mentioned in the other movies. So now we already know that the eggs mean nothing and even if there is a queen present she won't do much.

2. the Aliens do get out of hand and we actually spent the movies being completely oblivious because our characters were not actually commuicating with Earth and were under a no need no tell command. In Alien 4 when they return to Earth it is already wastelanded. If this series sets a plot twist that the Aliens colonised Earth it could be interesting.

Any one of those eggs could spontaneously produce a queen.
