It sounds like they have a pretty clear political agenda. That could go either way as they will either/or both... piss off a lot of people or endear teh audience with that stuff.

Hopefully their political agenda is laced in with effective but not bombarding craft... so that we're not watching a documentary of their agenda. iow... I enjoy someone making their political stance, but it has to be done very cleverly as to not interfere with the underlying story in which we're all really here to see.

On some small level... we want to see a Xenomorph exploding out of someone's chest & we want to see how fooking dominant teh alien is vs other creatures (such as ourselves) but we don't want too much nor too little of that stuff.

It's a fine line this franchise has bobbled back n forth on... & I would expect the creators have enough data on their failurez & successez, to give it an educated attempt at making something that runs that fine line between acceptance & non-acceptance.

I find myself a bit different than most as I absolutely loved Alien vs. Predetor & rate it 2nd only 2 teh original... (I"m now exposed)... but that said, I'm looking forward with great hope that they can straddle all teh goodz n badz of teh past.

First the Star Wars sequels and now this. You are an odd duck. What did you think of Highlander 2?

Noah Hawley's name is a rubber stamp for me. He's attached, I'm in.

This sounds bad.

Aliens on earth has been done in both AVP movies and it sucked horribly.

Give us a new fully functioning colony world and add in the Aliens. Or add in a WY research facility that is working on Aliens and they escape.

But being set on Earth limits you massively.

Your pov is not lost on me. However, it's amazing to me how much resistance a lot of moviez I've absolutely loved... have been critically denied but then years later been accepted. I feel Alien vs Predetor will be one that joins that list.

Another example: I'm proud to say that I can tell all teh resistance to teh Star Wars "pre"quelz to suck it now that teh massez actually get what I've been feeling since the start & saying ever since I first watched "teh greatest story in cinematic history ever told," was released. It will be teh same for teh Sequelz eventually imo (but lets not get into that atm)... & so shall it come to pass that Alien vs Predetor will emerge.

I'm like a profit of sorts. <Lmaoo><45><45><Lmaoo> I don't require a religious following... but I do enjoy teh recognition of teh dynamic public opinion when they finally get what I've been saying for years.

I've purposefully avoided your main question here... to this point, because it's been too long since I enjoyed Highlander 2 for me to give an accurate assessment... but if you want to call me out... then I would ask you to enjoy Alien vs. Predetor 1 again... (remembering that we didn't know the origin of either species prior... & this movie delivered both explanationz. That's a key I feel most people under-estimate... but teh whole movie is worthy.)... and then we can see how time has effected these movies for us. (to your point: If I'm to enjoy Highlander 2 once again... which I did the first time, but lesser by lesser than the first, but by margins I forget)

No construct... nor a "challenge" or anything like this... lets just watch teh movie we're both tasked with and then find an appropriate place to give our "MODERN UPDATED POV... DESPITE ANY PREVIOUS POV WE MIGHT HAVE." Be open... I'm not holding my cock in my hand here. I'd just like you to go in clean & see if you enjoy it more.

I obviously capitalized that part of my last sentence for you, since you seem to be mocking me for my love of AVP1... but I'd like you to watch it again now years later and just take it in as a lover of both franchisez... which I know you are. I'd ask that you watch it without preface... as I will watch highlander 2 without preface & take it in as if it were released yesterday.

I rewatched Alien vs. Predator within the last few years. I never hated it but I never liked it a great deal. I think it's worse than Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection and many tiers below Alien and Aliens. But I would probably still give the film a passing grade. Not by a lot...but I suppose I was less critical of it than most when it came out.

I "liked" your post because I'm enjoying the discussion & despite teh fact we disagree on a lot of things... our history has made me feel like you speak your mind in teh same raw way I do. I've always appreciated that about you. I feel we both offer honest feedback even if we've been slighted or trumped.

Sad that you've been compromized by teh system though.

lol... joking. I see how you dodged my inherent challenge which I know you & I would be authentic too... but if you're not willing to give AVP1 another try after I've pointed out that they also provided our first explanation as to teh origina of both species on earth... (significant) then I don't know what to say. That's the thing that puts this over the top for me above other versions of this story.

Remember Remember teh 5th of teh franchise... who gave us teh originah plot. AVP1 actually had brand new information while supplying similar action to the others.

AVP1 was way ahead of its time & no matter what you feel about other movies... that one in particular answered a lot of questions while also supplying good quality cinema & a decent story-line... so recognize bro~

How many times do you need me to watch the movie? I saw it when it came out and I saw it again a year or two ago.

You could take in what I said & watch it again with new eyes.

I seem to be tasked with listening to your rant about Highlander 2 & going in front-loaded with your distaste which leaves me compromised... so I'd expect that you'd offer me the same service on the other side of the discussion.

My rant about Highlander 2? I just asked what you thought of it. It was one sentence and I didn't even say anything about the movie.

I have criticized it elsewhere on here in the past but if you like the movie I don't really gain from trying to make you watch it again and dislike it.

The points you made about AVP... I could probably give my take on them right now but do you really want them countered?

I'm in, I love the franchise and will support this series. I'm not a diehard though, so I'll probably enjoy it. lol! Being a diehard fan of things seems miserable.

You made EXTREMELY STRONG ACCUSATIONS about Highlander 2 by your challenge.

You are only able to dismiss your second sentence so easily towards my discredit... because the context of such an accusation was hidden as sub-context. You should know by now that such methods will not work on me... & so neither does your retort. YOU MEANT EXACTLY WHAT I SAID YOU MEANT. So you trying to deny that right now is a discredit to the validity I previously thought you spoke through.

I still believe in you though if your retort doesn't distort this pov.

I have criticized it elsewhere on here in the past but if you like the movie I don't really gain from trying to make you watch it again and dislike it.

You tasked me with re-watching an old movie I enjoyed in Highlander 2, and I thought it only fair that you rewatch something you're dissing in AVP1.

Imo... you're vastly under-estimating the importance of that movie. (long intro aside... it delivers) If you're going to ask me to do work in re-watching something, then I'm asking you to do the same. I thought this would be fair play. In fact it's more toward your favor because you got to pick the movie I have to re-watch... while I'm stuck with the movie this discussion started from.

If you're not willing, then you should know by now, after our years of apposing history, that you can't just challenge me without a solid response... & a possible equal challenge to your pov.

I simply commented... you challenged... so rock up or rock out.

Those are your 2 choices now that you've challenged me. I would expect that even after such strong words that you'd still give AVP1 a fair shake even though you went in previously without my pov in your head.

It's no different than what you've tasked me with where I have to now go into Highlander 2 with your words in my head. It changes things. You're asking me to go into Highlander 2 with the idea that it might be bullshit. I'm asking you to go into AVP1 that it might not be BS.

I don't remember asking you to rewatch Highlander 2 or challenging you to do anything.

You can rewatch it if you want but if you like the movie...like I said it doesn't make my world a better place to have you stop enjoying it.

I don't really recall the movie it's been so long.

I'd rather be an odd duck than an elitist who insults other people for things they enjoy.

I wonder how they pull off having the setting 70 years before the original film and taking place on earth. Curious if Weyland-Yutani Corp exists at that time. Hoping they do well with this project.

Not familiar with Sydney Chandler but she is fine as hell...

What's funny is I bet most people recognize her dad.

Reminds me of Olga Kurylenko. But younger and less attractive.

I remember an interview or feature around Prometheus where Ridley Scott was really insistent that the Space Jockey was a man in a suit and his supporting staff in the early going were pretty wary of the idea. Ridley seemed to be kind of charging ahead with this the way George Lucas was with his ideas in The Phantom Menace.

Came across to me kind of like a guy saying "it's mine and I'm reinventing it" And that aside from his putting a pin in Blomkamp's Alien 5.

It plays out like a movie directed by a hired hand and written by a committee of Lindelofs, but Ridley seemed to be pretty passionate and auteur-ish about it behind the scenes. That said...the final product came across as something not directed by the guy who actually did Alien but more from the JJ Abrams school of thought...recapturing some of the aesthetic with a huge budget and stupid characters and the bigger is better philosophy.

I'm misremembering my Abrams cabal hacks lol.

I am very excited, I like this pick so far. She is beautiful. Sci Series are often corny and silly, hope they can pull this off, as it's my favorite sci fi of all time.
