Rumored Alexandre Pantoja vs Kai Asakura - UFC 307 - Oct 5th

Zero chance of getting a title fight for your debut while there is already a japanese guy who deserves it
It has happened before. And who's the Japanese guy ur talking about? Tiara? You think he should be fighting for the belt right now? 9/10 ppl don't even know he exists

I don't like it. I want to see Kai adapt to that weight class first. He has some holes he needs to patch up on the ground or getting up using a cage. I want Japanese fighters to win but traditionally they come unprepared for competition in America. Simple stuff like come to Vegas and stay a week or two before the event. It could be a money issue but UFC has the PI and pay is more now. They can airbnb a home and UFC can arrange someone to drive them around.
joe silva is quoted as saying they were giving all of the PRIDE guys no favors, no easy matchups when they got to the UFC. historically, they have fed them to the wolves after and this is no different. not even a welcome fight, a warm up fight, followed by another solid win and then the title shot? just right to the champ. i think the asakura bros are smart enough to develop a good game plan and get accustomed to the cage. but it's totally different.

Didn't Toja say he was going to take some time off? Well alright then.

:meow:

Not all the Pride guys though, they gave Cro Cop Eddie Sanchez for his debut and then Gonzaga (good fighter but he was obviously supposed to get KO'd).

Everything else tracks though, back in the day it was all about trying to prove that the UFC had the best talent across the board, what better way to do that than to throw Pride guys against the toughest guys they could?

Until another source posts this, it's fake news. Carter is not a reputable source.

That is pretty cool.

I like when champs from other organizations get love in the UFC. Too bad they didn't get Horiguchi too.

I don't buy that scenario. No one comes in and gets a title shot immediately, except Joe Soto (and Fedor would have). They're probably going to match up Kai with Kape, which is honestly the only reasonable matchup for him, at this stage. They're 1-1, need to settle up.
Gilbert Melendez did as a strikefoce champ and Shields fought once before fighting GSP, also HENDO fought Rampage and A SILVA back to back as PRIDE champ, you should know sport a little better man before saying stuff like that.

Ah, usually i wouldnt post a true non-news source, however Reubun had a few fights recently correct combining with himself saying he has a fight almost finalized the timing makes it a strong outcome IMO.

Reuben is the type of chump who would come out "announcing" a fight like Topuria vs Holloway or Jones vs Miocic like we couldn't see them coming a mile away lol.

He's also known to tweet and delete when his goofy little announvements don't come true, think he claimed Cannonier vs Costa was happening and panick deleted when one of them were officially announced for something else.

Obviously going off the top, and Hendo had fought in the UFC several times prior. You knew that, though

100% and great point. Cro Cop was the ONLY fighter the UFC gave a favorable entrance, proper (one poorly made Microsoft Word with "Cro Cop" text) hype video, easy first opponent. They thought out of all of them, they could bank on Cro Cop being the most popular. I'm still upset that Cro Cop did not pan out the way he could have in UFC. He should have been the champ, multiple defenses, and had insane KOs over everyone. Pride Cro Cop for life.
