Which weightclass would you like Pereira to compete in?

I still doin't get Johnny Walker's reaction to being KO'd by Jamahal Hill. It's like someone threw a mouse in the cage or he thought hill was pushing him off a clif.

That follow up punch doesn't get enough love. Absolute pinpoint laser with full weight to the loose jaw. Yikes.

1. As skill levels increase across the board, weight becomes a huge advantage. That's why divisions are based on weight. It's one of the very best predictors of success in a fight between trained opponents.
2. Sure they both weigh in the same, but they don't weigh the same come fight night. It simply isn't true that all fights in teh UFC are between fighters of the same size.
3. It's a system that can be abused, and weight bully is a fairly apt description of those that abuse it. Some guys (and gals) manage to end up about a half weight class heavier than their average opponent.
If you kill yourself to make weight, sure you weigh more on fight night but often, it’s not beneficial to performance. That’s why so many guys do better when they go up a weight class. If your logic was right, they’d get crushed but they don’t. Lots of top guys have fought a class smaller before. I honestly have a hard time believing Alex wouldn’t be even more dangerous at LHW. Look at how much better rumble was at LHW. Generally guys dropping classes doesn’t work out either. It’s a dumb concept of guys who cannot grasp it’s not all black and white.

If two guys can make the same weight, they’re the same weight class. There’s always going to be some small size variations but it’s nowhere near what the “weight bully” retards claim. If that was the case, divisions would be ruled by giants but they’re not. Most champions are average for their division and it’s always been this way. It’s the same reason with a few exceptions, most guys who cut to make HW are not championship material. You can only go so far without it hurting you.

Weight bullies don’t exist but if you insist on using that term, use it for guys who can’t make weight like Till, Khamzat or rumble. It’s a stupid term used to discredit guys for no reason based on nothing.

Thing is, combat sports go by weight class, not height class, also isnt he just as tall as Adesanya? The guy that got very little hate for being LHW size while fighting at MW...If he can make MW without missing weight then thats his weight class, do i want him to go to LHW? sure, im down for Pereira vs Hill next, but im not hating the guy for making 185lbs while being big enough to fight at LHW.
Adesanya got little hate for fighting at MW? Every other criticism was that he had size relative to his opponents. Don't see why the same criticism can't be thrown at Pereira.

Jones is also big, adesanya, figereo, connor against aldo.

Whoever came up with that term deserve a sturdy kick in the nuts

The problem with your argument, and it's a big one, is that most fighters don't agree with you. Fighters who easily make weight are rarer than fighters who have to go through the whole process of shedding a dozen or more pounds of water weight.

As far as HW goes, the major reason there aren't all that many HW champs who cut weight to make 265, is because there aren't very many fighters who cut 265 to make weight. I'd guess the proportion of champs out of that weight subset is far greater than any other in MMA.

Anyway, there are fighters who are noticeably larger than their division mates, and it makes all the sense in the world to stigmatize that behavior.

Didn't Teixeira call out Alex Pereira in the post fight. He said something about Alex moving up to LHW soon and he will be facing him lol

lol no, he said that pereira is going to move up to lhw, and that glover is going to get out of the way, since he's moving up.

Your face is slowly becoming the Mona Lisa of Sherdog, Shermano.

The ambivalent smile lays itself open to various interpretations. You seem happy, bemused, wickedly withholding some evil plot, wry, weary but content, resigned... All at the same time.

Truly a picture for the ages

He should fight Hill next while the LHW needs to figure out their next #1 contender then.

This. Whining about guys who cut weight is so tired. Everyone cuts weight. Some guys happen to be closer to the threshold than others.

Guys look the same height, Alex maybe a little bulkier. Dwarfing would be Rogan standing next to The Mountain.

Got you, but we gotta get Sherbro’s to click right?
Still, Pereira is a MW and Walker a LHW almost considered a HW, so Pereira looking bigger than him just being a “MW” was worth a thread imo

Not even close, Pereira does trigger the haters with weight pictures, but its not even close, Pereira gets much more hate.

As long as his opponent is Khamzat or someone else who posses a decent grappling threat, I don't really care what division he fights in. But otherwise I just went with MW, because defend your title!! Remember when people couldn't shut up about that with Conor. Lol
