Alex Pereira Claims He Fought at '40 Percent' for First Bout vs. Magomed Ankalaev

Well it's obvious something was going on because Pereira definitely didn't look like himself. But at the end of the day Pereira lost & Ank won. But best believe it'll be a different fight in the rematch.

Pepera claims he fought at 40% of his capability.

Pepera landed 11 significant strikes on MAGAmeds head during their first fight;
How many significant strikes Pepera would land on MAGAmeds head Oct. 5 if he fights at 100% of his capability? Would it be enough to win?

If Pepera fights at his 100% he will land 27,5 significant strikes on generic muslim's head. But Unclecry'ev lands 36 significant strikes in return on regular basis;
36 > 27,5;

Even if Alexandr Pepera fights at his 100% he will lose anyway.
Who's to say that 36 sig strikes is Uncle-aev 100%??

Thats why we fight we will find out. I hope he brings 85 percent this time
he also brought 40 percent when he fought jan and claimed ankalaev ducked him

imagine refusing a big paycheck and a chance to win the gold

Who cares about all these excuses now, that's in the past. Let's just move on and see how you perform this saturday. That's really all that matters. All this talk is nonsense.

Fighters confidence.. how does it work.

Well dont ask the nerds.. thats for sure:)

Well like i said...

If 100% was a young and hungry athlete, 40% seems about right for an aging tiktoker with diarrhea.

Alex Pereira didn’t look like himself in his first meeting with Magomed Ankalaev earlier this year.

Perhaps part of that can be attributed to Ankalaev being a difficult matchup, but according to the Brazilian, there were more factors involved.

"Honestly, I was about 40 percent for that fight, on that night," Pereira said through a translator on"The Brian Campbell Experience" (transcription via MMAjunkie.com). "And obviously it's going to be much more this time. But if I'm only 50 percent, that 10 percent is going to make such a great difference. I'm going to leave no doubt for everybody.”

After successfully defending the light heavyweight title three times, Pereira dropped a unanimous decision to Ankalaev at UFC 313 in March. While it was expected that the Dagestani would have a significant advantage through his wrestling, “Poatan” was able to defend all 12 of his opponent’s takedown attempts over the course of 25 minutes. As a result of that success, Ankalaev recently implied that Pereira may have been greasing in the fight.

"I think he don't like because I was able to prove that he's not that good," Pereira said. "I'm a striker, he's a grappler. He's supposed to be taking me down, but I was able to show to everybody that he's not that great.”

reminds me of a guy who said something about 30%

Any armchair psychologists/sociologists out here that know what it is about Brazilians that they always have to come up with these kinds of excuses?

Not really liking Poatan's mindset going into this fight...its like he is trying to be angry and intimidating. Which is usually a tell that he is not very confident about his chances...and rightfully so, I hope he wins...but Ank is really damn good, and this could easily be the fight that pushes him into stardom if he finishes Alex.

Alex was very, very shy in their first fight. Td threat? losing the hand game? Ank stance? health problems/'40%'?

His posture and approach were different from all of his UFC fights, this was very clear. I cant believe it was all due to the difficulties Ank created, but we will all find out next Saturday.

Alex by (T)KO R3.

Everyone is on steroids? :mad:

Everyone is at 40% :cool:

Sounds like he was right

This also aged very bad

Yeah I was much more emphatic about the first fight, this one I just wrote silly quips, which understand would require decent reading comprehension to decipher the difference.

But as crazy as it probably seems to you, I did call that Alex would fight much more aggressively, and I know this blows your mind but he would've been in more danger of getting countered but he landed a huge shot first. It's a high risk high reward strategy.

If you're of incredibly limited intelligence you probably come away from this fight thinking the same thing would happen 99 times in a row in they fought over and over again.
