I agree with everything you said, except the conclusion.

Alex was working Izzy over, picking his shots, making Izzy miss, then countering with a leg + body beat down.

Also agree Alex got sloppy, stepped on the gas too fast, and blew all of his own good work up to that point.

But I do believe Izzy baited him by covering up, and wasn't that hurt, and caught Alex by surprise.

Have to give Izzy credit for the win, even though I was pulling for Alex, and think Pereira was on his way to his most impressive victory yet.

It's a combination of Pereira blowing it, and Izzy seizing his window of opportunity. Not fair to deny Adesanya that credit.

he sure as heck got in the last laugh and it was the most brutal of all the fights

if there was anytime a chin got cracked, it's usually to guys that are getting old, and suffer a very bad knockout. Similarly, usman just isnt the same anymore, likely poatan, and both guys are fairly equals, all of their 4 fights were close, if one is a fluke, all are flukes....

hehehe if we think about it, almost EVERY single victory is a combination of someone making a mistake and the opponent capitalizing on it.
And while it is obvious if we think on this terms, the sobering conclusion is that this is no win is a fluke... this is just exactly how MMA works.
Both guys train, both guys try to get the other to make a mistake in their defense, and whoever capitalizes, wins...
