No he wasn’t, he got rocked. It’s a fight that shit happens. The ref absolutely should have let the fight go on longer. I’m following up because this fight even further proves my point and is relevant to this specific conversation.
I'm an Izzy supporter and I still think it was a good stoppage. I don't like seeing my favourite fighters getting flat-lined unnecessarily and having their careers cut short. Let's disagree and move on.
Izzy just proved he’s extremely capable in those situations. the ref should have let the fight continue a little longer. the result may have very well been the same. but on principle it was early.

he’s still competent and capable with his back against the cage and hurt. I think it’s safe to say the fight could have continued a bit longer. The result may have remained the same, but he deserved that opportunity.

I had Israel winning but in no way shape or form like that. I thought he was gonna wrestle from the third round and up because of how poor Alex’s cardio normally looks. I was even more convinced of it because of the way he chose to answer every question on whether he’d grapple more. There was a clearly disparity on the ground.
Rewatch it at qtr speed at 5:11 diaz lands a perfect right hand on Daley that's hard to see from that angle. Watch it in qtr speed and it's clear Daley dazed crazily from that shot.

He’s lucky he didn’t have to resort to grappling, because to win the way he did striking only must give him some level of vindication. I wish we got to see a third round, I really wanted to know if he was gonna swallow his pride and grapple. I was positive he was waiting to catch him off guard in the third. Based on his “we’ll find out” answer it would have told me a lot about his psyche if he actually ended up wrestling. I wanted a peak into his mind.

yup, we will never know. I hope Alex and Izzy fight again. Their fights are very entertaining. I seriously hope he takes a long break before returning. he was out for a minute. i almost felt badly for him when izzy was shooting his arrows at Alex while unconscious, however, Alex was as gracious when he knocked Izzy unconscious. I know Alex has got to be pissed at that celebration against Izzy.
I bet you any beef they had is squashed now and any rematch from here would be a healthy good sportsman rivalry. They have each others respect now without a doubt.

Izzy wasn't dodging or weaving shit. I can almost picture his brain pinballing around the inside of his skull as Alex bounced that last right off his temple. You literally could not ask for a better stoppage.
