Alex Izzy 1 was definitely stopped a lil early

Wow! Someone is actually calling this stoppage early, it's on the line of being late. Izzy ate like 20 unanswered shots. His hands dropped at the end and he was defenseless.

A championship fight where the champion is stopped while hes still standing and people think its a fine stoppage. We always can depend on the pussy boys announcing themselves out when these occur.

That said, im ok with alex winning.
This is exactly how i feel. It's only because people dislike izzy, i'm gald you can be objective.

standing tko's are not the norm in mma. especially when a defending champ is doing it in the last round foh.

Lol, the Izzy fanboys that say "There was only a little time left in the round"
THERE WERE THREE WHOLE MINUTES LEFT

I’ll never forgive my stream for giving out right before that. I had no idea

I am so sick to death of retards pushing this narrative that Izzy was somehow defending himself.

Here is the actual angle the ref saw in REAL TIME before he stepped in:

Izzy wasn't dodging or weaving shit. I can almost picture his brain pinballing around the inside of his skull as Alex bounced that last right off his temple. You literally could not ask for a better stoppage.

There's nothing that's even remotely objective about this OP. Just more biased fangirlism trying to hide the fact your boy got fucking slept.
Thread should have been closed after this post and anyone continuing to post this bs narrative in new threads should get a ban.

From an old perspective, it was definitely early.

Now days, it seems about right.

It's just a sign of the times.

There's no doubt that several years ago, the majority of the board would've felt robbed.

Way early, I would have loved to see about 50-60 more unanswered punches land.

TS got bodied by this post. Who cares about Diaz/Daley. Different fight, different ref, different altogether.

If Izzy wanted to keep fighting, he should have kept fighting.

Given it was a title fight I think the ref should have let it go on. Glad Alex won but would have rather see Izzy going out like a warrior.

Agreed. It's simple-if the question,"was it stopped early" is frequently asked, it was stopped early.
Its simple, if the answer is repeatedly no, don't ask such stupid questions, then it wasn't stopped early.

They could have let it go for a couple more seconds.

But a big knee was coming.

Muay thai 101, when they are rocked and rolling punches you knee them.

Izzy is a smart guy, would have been bad to see him limp bodied..

This is true.

Wut happun to you Sherdog? Wut happun to you?

NO FOR GAY JESUS! <RomeroSalute>

Everyone who thinks this should volunteer to take the knee that was coming in the next 5 seconds, this will fully earn you your right to criticize the ref.

EDIT: For those of you who think that a weave pattern while looking down isn't a form of defense. This exact movement made his head a very difficult target for Daley's hands. That split second Daley used to try and aim gave nick enough time to get up.

I do not know if Izzy could have survived the rest of the round, there was a bit of time left in the round. I'm simply being objective about the fight being stopped at that moment. If you play the finish back at .25x speed, you clearly see Izzy glance up at Alex to try and anticipate how to roll with the next punch right before the ref steps in. Izzy wasn't out, and he was moving and dodging in a weave pattern while aware enough to find times to glance up to figure out how to roll with the next incoming punch. The ref definitely missed that in the moment. If hindsight is 20/20, quarter speed replays are probably omnipotence. The ref's job is difficult so im not mad at him I'm just being objective about whether or not that's a good stoppage.

I disagree it objectively a bad stoppage. If you had to rewatch, slow to 0.25x speed to even come up with a little bit of evidence it was in the in range the ref could stop it. Stopping is a subjective call, he may well have seen what you saw but the balance of the other things he observed outweighed that.

It was clear to everyone Izzy was hanging on by thread and at that point you can expect a ref stoppage at any moment. It was up to Izzy to show something and he didn't do enough to convince the ref.

Could he have survived longer? Perhaps. But that isn't why a ref stops it. They are protecting the fighter and stopping beatdowns. If it wasn't ended when it was the most likely outcome by far was his lights being turned off.
