Alex Izzy 1 was definitely stopped a lil early

I don't see looking at the floor while weaving as defending yourself properly. He couldn't see what was coming next, and Poaton was bombin'.

Justified stoppage imo.

Worked for Diaz here. I swear some of y'all don't know what you're looking at. Punches from alternating sides can mostly be avoided with that exact pattern.

I don't agree, but since you are just repeating what you're trying to argue for, 3 times now, I will repost this by @Street Bishop

I am so sick to death of retards pushing this narrative that Izzy was somehow defending himself.

Here is the actual angle the ref saw in REAL TIME before he stepped in:

Izzy wasn't dodging or weaving shit. I can almost picture his brain pinballing around the inside of his skull as Alex bounced that last right off his temple. You literally could not ask for a better stoppage.

There's nothing that's even remotely objective about this OP. Just more biased fangirlism trying to hide the fact your boy got fucking slept.

He literally glanced and was using a weave pattern. Punches generally come from alternating hands in combinations. You can dodge the majority of punches using the same pattern as long as the punches in combination alternate between left and right. If that pattern is used against 2 punches from the same side in a row you’re fucked. Using a pattern like that is intelligent defense. Go watch Diaz vs Daley. Nick does it there.

Sure, that's very basic stuff.

This is not about bob&weave not being an intelligent form of defense, it's about continuing to do it when it's not working and you accumulate damage not being an intelligent form of defense.

everything adds up to an early stoppage go watch congo barry. foh

"early stoppage"
"he uses IVs"
"i was winning the first 2 fights"
"he only got the title shot because I paved the way"

Y'all everyone seen someone who was blacked out drunk, slurring their words, stumbling when they were walking, and thought to yourself "Man, that guy needs to go to drink some water and go to bed" ? Would you want that guy to slam a few more shots just because he could stand up with the support of a wall, but with 3 more ounces of liquor he's gonna face plant into the ground?

That's the equivalent of Izzy in this fight. He was done. He may not have been out, but he was out of the fight. Don't shit on the bartender who doesn't serve the blacked out drunk and don't shit on the ref who doesn't let a dude get blasted excessively when he's obviously had enough.

Usman was KOed cold and we got an instant rematch.

Anderson was 38 and flatlined in under 2 rounds while putting up very little effective offense and we got an instant rematch.

Safe to say Izzy was getting his rematch even if he got slept. Money talks.
Kamaru getting an insta-rematch for a completely non-controversial stoppage was also bullshit, yes.

Anderson was understandable though due to the length of his reign.

The only reason we have this fight this early is because of that 'early' stoppage.

Izzy said his coaches thought the stoppage as fair. Even if Izzy doesn't like it. He was going to take a lot of head damage, potentially a knee with the way he was dipping his head from that barrage.

A ton of fighters were not right for at least a year after taking finishing damage that Izzy was about to take.

I find it peculiar given some of the stoppages I’ve seen people complain about, that this one is defended so adamantly. I think it’s borderline at best, if that happened to a fan favorite I think there would be far less defending it.
Agreed. It's simple-if the question,"was it stopped early" is frequently asked, it was stopped early.

He wasn't even looking at Pereira. Pretty clear case of a good stoppage.

It wasnt a perfect stoppage but Izzy was doing the black beast "looking at the ground" defense except he mixed in some head mooment

I agree it was too early, i mean Adesanya was having a staring contest with Pereira his feet.

It was early, especially in a big fight with implications that it had. I’m not even an Izzy fan, but Jesus let the man go out in his shield in the biggest fight of his career.

might as well just stop fights when the first good punch is landed or someone gets rocked, fuck having a fist fight.
