Alex Izzy 1 was definitely stopped a lil early

I don't think DIaz/Daley is a good counter example, Nick got knocked down by a punch but he wasnt nearly as badly hurt as Izzy was by the end, he was defending himself as soon as he was on the ground and Daley was not able to land much in the follow up were as Izzy was rocked and then ate several more big punchs.

I disagree it objectively a bad stoppage. If you had to rewatch, slow to 0.25x speed to even come up with a little bit of evidence it was in the in range the ref could stop it. Stopping is a subjective call, he may well have seen what you saw but the balance of the other things he observed outweighed that.

It was clear to everyone Izzy was hanging on by thread and at that point you can expect a ref stoppage at any moment. It was up to Izzy to show something and he didn't do enough to convince the ref.

Could he have survived longer? Perhaps. But that isn't why a ref stops it. They are protecting the fighter and stopping beatdowns. If it wasn't ended when it was the most likely outcome by far was his lights being turned off.
It’s abnormal to have fights stopped when the opponent is still standing. This isn’t a common occurrence in mma. This was a long reigning defending champ that clearly was not out cold just dazed. He was literally defending. Barry Kongo, the last two fights of the Edgar Maynard trilogy. It was early. If it was Izzy who stopped Alex like that, I can almost guarantee the vast majority of people here would be singing a vastly different tune.

I guess I’m wrong for expecting Sherdog to give an objective analysis. People always said he was just looking at the ground why the stoppage was justified. Qtr speed clearly shows him glancing up to peak to anticipate the next punch. I didn’t need qtr speed for my opinion, the weave pattern was enough. I guess most people just don’t have enough sparring experience to know how effective that can be. Definition of intelligent defense.

Izzy was on his feet, not out cold and applying that specific defense pattern. Thats intelligent defense. I’m just pointed out how he takes a quick glance at Alex to make his weaving as effective as possible. Would he have gotten finished 20 seconds later? Maybe, who knows? Doesn’t matter it, was stopped early.

Everyone who thinks this should volunteer to take the knee that was coming in the next 5 seconds, this will fully earn you your right to criticize the ref.
go watch vs Barry Kongo.

It was an excellent stoppage. Adesanya had every opportunity and was spared unnecessary damage while no longer defending himself. Let the fighter live to fight another day.
Do you think the ref could have let this fight go a little bit longer now? Clearly Izzy is still extremely dangerous even when he’s very hurt against the cage.

Look at that, Izzy is still extremely dangerous when his back is against the cage even when hes seriously hurt. Change your mind? Do you think the ref maybe could have let the fight go on longer?

Sure, that's very basic stuff.

This is not about bob&weave not being an intelligent form of defense, it's about continuing to do it when it's not working and you accumulate damage not being an intelligent form of defense.
Looks like Izzy is capable of finishing fights when hurt with his back against the cage mid-flurry. look at that.

Wow! Someone is actually calling this stoppage early, it's on the line of being late. Izzy ate like 20 unanswered shots. His hands dropped at the end and he was defenseless.
Clearly Izzy is still extremely dangerous even after he’s been seriously hurt and his back is against the cage. It’s obvious now the fight should have been allowed to go on longer. Izzy ended the fight mid flurry.

I never doubted him for a minute. I still think that was an excellent stoppage. I'm just a little less emotional than you. Lol

bad stoppage looking back.
No it was a good stoppage. This time he was playing possum like he said. Bravo to Adesanya. I knew he could beat him. He did it in the best possible way.

look at you projecting. let’s stay on topic. I couldn’t care less in regards to talking about emotions. keep that to yourself. My point is Izzy clearly is capable of finishing fights hurt against the cage. It should have been allowed to continue for a little bit longer.

It’s clear Izzy is capable of finishing fights when hurt up against the cage. See? It was stopped early.
Bro let it go. Izzy was undoubtedly stopped fairly in the last fight and undeniably lost it and was TKO'd. He fought a smarter game and was much more aggressive despite getting his legs chewed up for his troubles. He won while in a compromised position with an excellent counter.

Your revisionist interpretations of the events are borderline autistic and quite honestly cringe. Take the impressive Izzy W and let the last fight that Izzy clearly lost go. He rectified that loss.

I'm well aware he's capable. But he was going out in that last fight. I think the ref did the right thing. Fighter safety comes first. You're following up with me for some reason even though I literally predicted the fight outcome.
