Alright, I'm not going to defend his personal life here since the guy obviously got himself into dipshit trouble all by himself, but he had an awesome run as a fighter and showed a true fighters heart also when losing in the most devastating fashion. Aleksander was somehow overshadowed by his older brother Fedor and unfortunatly he never could fight in UFC due to failing of a medical test.

Here a few highlights from the great Aleksander Emelianenko;

His fights were fun. Very stoic guy. And tried to fight like Ali. lol. Would love to see more HW like him these days.

If Tim Sylvia can have an appreciation thread then why not Alex? Well done TS.

Not a fan but he has great fights,
especially against Sergei.
But this Ko was epic

Great idea for thread, TS but -1 for misspelling "ALEKS!"

He was one of my all time favorites. Some of the best hands I have ever seen in MMA. So fast and accurate.

He beat Sergei who beat Overeem and Arlovski. I actually think prime Aleks would have likely knocked out Overeem and Arlovski at just about any time in their careers. Once he lands one punch more would follow. He would be a horrible matchup for both those guys.

I hope he rots in a Siberian prison, and gets a LHK from Crocop everyday for lunch

One of the best KOs PRIDE has ever seen, if not the best. Well, at least the prettiest:

Also, he was boxing Barnett up nicely before the submission. Dude was a good striker.

His win against Kharitonov had a nice KO too, although he was the one getting boxed up before the comeback KO. Dude was in some good fights.

He's a scum of the earth but I still give him props for his in ring skills. Excellent hands for a HW, probably one of the best I've ever seen.

I remember before his first fight....everyone was hyped.

" He's a bigger stronger Fedor!......he's going to Kill everyone"

tye hype was real for a minute.....he did have some great skills....but not sure what happened to him after that HKO...

Seemed like he fed his life up outta the ring.
