Hey don't get me wrong.... I rooted for him hard back in the day. I was pissed when he made some careless mistakes and basically gave up a submission to Barnett. Aleks HAD that fight in the bag.

Aleks likely biggest problem is self control. If he could keep his head on straight, he could have been one of, if not, the GOAT.

He could gave gone to the UFC and become UFC HW Goat. I remember him practically begging Dana/Zuffa to let him fight in the UFC when Big Tim was champ saying he would beat his ass easy, how he said he wanted Fedor to stay champ in Pride and he wanted to come to the UFC and be Champ there. Zuffa didn't pay attention or didn't seem to care and just ignored him. His life story could have been very different if that happened. He had all the tools to be champ and an all time great. Who straight up goes toe to toe with a Legend like Mirko at 22 years of age? A bad ass named Aleks that's who. Such a shame on what could have been.

NO. Hunt is a better MMA fighter right now. But he was a much, much, MUCH better STRIKER back then. And his fight with Aleks would have been on the feet... so that hunt would have wrecked him pretty badly.

and prime hunt style was based on explosive bursts in his attacks. He was generally a slow fighter, but very explosive, especially for his size.

It's a mistery to see Fedor who has never been in anything remotely polemical and has the presence of nearly a saint, and then we got Alexander, a guy who has been rumoured in PRIDE days to have connections with russian mobsters and all the shit that has done later.

What a waste of talent was Alexander. He could have been TOP 5 in the UFC, and likely fighting for the gold.
