Aldo, McGregor, Weidman, Anderson, what do all these "greats" have in common.

That settles it.

Christian "Batman" Bale, future Flyweight, Bantamweight, Featherweight, Lightweight, and Welterweight champion.

Don't forget the bale that nearly whooped that dudes ass on the set of terminator salvation. I'd like to see him and Russell crowe throwdown.

No, it was not BS.

Aside from Frankie and if you really want to reach, Lamas, Conor had beaten everyone worth beating at FW. And he beat the orevious champion by KO in record time.

I think he should fight Frankie next, no argument there. But affording Conor his tilt at history was not indefensible for the UFC, and it was solid business since Conor was such a hot ticket.

As a fan of the sport i care more about the integrity of the athletic competition than the UFC's bottom line. In fact as a hardcore fan of MMA for years i'm starting to get really turned off by the UFC's complete indifference to shitty judging and horrible matchmaking. They may gain a lot of casuals with this McGregor shit but they're going to start losing the hardcore fans, and when the hype train comes to a stop they're going to be stuck with their dicks in their hands. I'm hoping more fighters fuck off to Bellator.

McGregor didn't come anywhere close to cleaning out the division. He needs to fight Aldo again, in fact it's pretty fucked up he can get a rematch but Aldo can't, and he needs to fight Edgar, if not Mendes on a full camp too. Lamas is obvious, a grown up Holloway is obvious, and even Swanson isn't unreasonable competition after that. lot can change after two fights, in that time i expect Holloway to be ready for a TS so at worst that's 3 guys. That's to say nothing of guys like Barao and Pettis possibly switching divisions.

All were considered great fighters until they had to fight someone bigger than them and lost their advantage to win.

Aldo had a hard time making weight, then comes a better weight cutter in McGregor who knocked him out. Then McGregor had to fight someone that was actually longer than him and gets choked out. Anderson Silva spent his whole career dwarfing the middleweight division until Chris Weidman came along. Then came Luke Rochold who is even bigger than Weidman.

This is the Ultimate Fighting and Weight Cutting championship. You can give it to Silva who moved up weight class and won but he was only fighting journey men.
Anderson fought 3 lhw's and they were his easiest fights.

He became big for his division when he started winning. Before he faced Franklin the talk that he was undersized, the same against Hendo, Sonnen, Okami…

Noobs really suck.

Hendo? Sonnen? Okami??

He had already put on the size for MW by the time he fought Franklin.... He dwarfed leben when they fought....and he already had fights at LHW by the time he fought sonnen and okami....He was a BIG MW.....he also had the longest reach in the division for the vast majority of his reign.....

He was bigger than all three of the fighters you mentioned at the time they fought. Did you watch any of the fights?

What is Fedor's join date. Mark Hunt and Conor have the same reach. Next...

Anderson Silva was a world champion at 168lbs before he was a world champion at 185lbs.

He was not clearly not naturally bigger or heavier than guys like Sonnen or Okami or Franklin, and was noticeably smaller than Griffin and Bonnar.

Argument demolished. Next.

Yea, but when he was UFC champ he used to walk around at about 240 lbs of rock solid muscle. He would cut to MW, rehydrate, and then walk into the cage at about 237 lbs to fight against guys who weighed about 193 lbs.

Silva was never a big MW. That's one of the reasons I liked him and Henderson, neither cut much weight if any. Idgaf what Suarez said to hype Silva up as a big guy, he never was big. Burger King diet Silva don't count either.

Nah, Silva couldn't make the cut that easy anymore after those fights @ 205 and he started having to cut from 320 to 184 but could only rehydrate to 290 on fight night post Griffin fight.

So you're changing the subject?
No. I'm addressing everything you said. If you want some facts:

Here are some bod pod measurements of both fighters.

Silva's bod pod measurements -- Silva is 19.1% at 211lb = 170.54 LBM

ficha.jpg

GSP is 7.7% on this bod pod measurement and roughly 170lb of LBM.

So if Anderson was a huge MW… What does that make GSP? They have virtually identical lean body mass…

Facts beat fiction my friend.

LBM alone isn't everything. If you cant tell that GSP and Silva are different sizes, then you are being the ostrich hiding its head up its own ass....

There is something to be said for the overall structure of the body aswell as skeletal structure and bone density....

Size isn't just one stat....youre oversimplifying intentionally to make a ridiculous point. And worse still, you know that youre doing it....

Nah, KZ, Mike Brown, Homminick and Lamas were at least Aldo-sized or bigger. All had fought at LW before. Hell, Aldo beat the shit out of a guy who had fought at middleweight when he beat Kenny Florian.

Anderson "Chickenlegs" Silva is a natural MW who began his career effectively as a WW. At MW he was outsized by Sonnen, Okami, Franklin and Hendo and smashed all of them.

Hell, Anderson went up 20 lbs and smashed the guy who had been LHW CHAMPION only a year or so earlier. The guy who had finished Shogun and beat Rampage for the belt. Not to mention he took two rounds off Rashad before he got caught. Forrest wasn't sexy enough for the fanboys, but he was legit as fuck when Anderson fought him.

And Anderson smashed Forrest - one of the biggest and most successful LHWs around at the time (walkaround weight 240 lbs) - worse than any of Forrest's LHW opponents had ever been able to smash him.

I just posted numbers and now you're looking at photos. Numbers are numbers. They are fact. Anderson isn't, nor has he ever been a big MW. If I wanted to post photos I could do things like this:

We would say Jacare and Mousasi are bigger than Fedor. People on these sights have always been enamoured with height and reach. Condit is both taller and longer than Mark Hunt…

GSP is thick. He doesn't have the same build as Anderson but he has the same mass. Anderson being called a 'big MW' only ever started when he kept winning… In fact whenever a champ is dominant he suddenly becomes a 'big' fighter.

To give you an idea, Anderson has weighed in at 202lb the morning of a fight at LHW… Thiago Alves has weighed in at 197lb the morning before a fight at WW.

They have absolutely nothing in common because Connor and Weidman overrated asses are nowhere near greats.
