Elections Alabama Special Senate Election Live Results Thread

Pretty sure it hardened under Bush/Cheney. Even during Clinton it was clear there was going to be no "gettin' along"
While I can agree to that, you would have to admit the past couple of years have been brutal on the idea of non-partisan politics.

Lately I've been mulling over the whole idea of whether a particular thing that might be good for the people is good for the Country or State. Is there a line where the wishes of the citizenry actively harm the nation as a whole by either making it militarily weaker, financially weaker, socially weaker, judiciously weaker? Is that something that should in fact be fought against or just accepted as the inevitable devolution/progression of all large societies.

I will give you mine.
Biggest loser is GinBlossoms Bannon.
I think he fancied himself as a King maker. Trump beat a terrible candidate, so put down the bottle of gin and stay in your lane, Bannon.
Regular loser is Trump but he has been losing a lot lately anyway. Backed two losers in Bama. If Trump was savy he should have stayed away from Moore because Moore past puts a focus on Trumps pussy grabbing. Trump has been further weakened.
Small winner is the Dems but they need to stay in your lane. Jones beat a big time flawed candidate and only beat him by 1% and Nick Saban got 20k write in votes. This win is not some mandate shift but like Trumps win, you beat a shit head, so don’t act like you K O’ed prime Fedor.
Yup, very close. So, it's good news and all that Jones won, but the alt-right especially, and Republicans in general, are not going to take it lying down. Also, black turnout being much higher than expected was what did it for Jones, but unless that can be sustained on a national level, I doubt we'll see these results repeated in other "red" states.

What I cannot wait to see is...

Since he lost, do the allegations still proceed or just stop. .

...

Huh.

You know that title used to be King's
They weren't voting against Bannon, they were voting against Moore and his image. Trying to equate this loss as some sort of referendum on Bannon is ridiculous.

One win against a candidate like Moore is hardly indicative of a party shift regardless of the historic voting practices of the state or it's individual counties. That was a no win situation regardless of whether he got the vote or not. I'm glad he didn't, but even you have to admit he was a "special" case.

As for Republicans moving more toward the center, possibly, but I doubt it will be due to Moore's loss. Regardless, I do believe we might see a shake up of the establishment Republicans moving into 2018.

The Moore win isn't indicative of anything besides the fact that he was so crazy that he turned off a certain percentage of white voters and motivated a shitload of black voters to show to the polls.

The real indications of a wave election can be seen in the competitiveness of Democrats in several other elections around the country in 2017 and by how badly Democrats are beating the GOP on the generic ballot for next years' election.

So you're saying that you agree that a girl who got her first period - let's say at the age of 12 - is now ready for intercourse. Interesting position to take.

The period is a sign of fertility and sexual maturity in the vast majority of women. It pretty much is the only way to tell without a medical examination. Im not sure what is so interesting.

Keep claiming the moral high ground while denying biology

I def agree it has gotten worse.

As far as your second comment goes: thats the trick, each side thinks they are correct so they fight hard for these cornerstones.

I always boil it down to resources because that is what most conflicts actually revolve around. The two political parties in the US are pointed in the same economic direction so as long as this continues, there will be ample room for fighting. But the fighting will be over misdirected social issues, not the structure and purpose of our economy. Thats the trap.

More support evidence right here that you're a sick piece of shit.

I wish your employer, friends and family would know this about you.

Hahahahahaha cry me a fucking river. All you have is emotional bitching and moaning.

Pretty much everybody recognizes the gap between biological maturity and acceptable adult relationships. It's not like it's some puzzle that we haven't figured out. Moore crossed the line and even hugely partisan-biased Alabama voters know it. You've sunk to the point where you're now arguing from the ambiguity in that gap to justify behavior that the electorate says is disqualifying for service as their representative. I'll give you credit on this occasion for being so partisan that you don't see how bad your arguments are. But we'll be keeping an eye on you, and you've lost babysitting privileges.
