"WMMA has been a huge flop."Although there are sporadic fights that are somewhat entertaining, overall I think WMMA has been a huge flop. There’s just not enough talent. And even if there were a lot of talented women out there, the majority of men don’t enjoy watching women compete in sports. It’s simple as that.
yup this 100%. if it's not going to even be remotely entertaining at the "highest levels" then AT LEAST make sure they are hot.Women's boxing is crap, even though there's been mass participation and national level amateur programs for decades.
So women's mma will probably always be crap.
Just make sure they're all hotties and the guys will tune in.
can't believe last night was the main event, that display of athleticism, was just poor. there are only at any given time, maybe 2-3 to actually watch for. besides that, the level of skills, athleticism, doesn't translate to "the best" when actually watching it. UFC should stop signing these absolute middle of the road, Thursday night cardio kickboxing types, and if they are going to pursue WMMA, sign only absolute killers of their respective field. Make it like the 90s again. Sign high level BJJ specialists, high level muay thai specialists, wrestlers, judo, etc and just let it fall where it may. There is nothing worse than watching a "well rounded" pitter patter fest where no implications exist and it is also not exciting to boot.
The problem is that there are so few women's fights (relative to men) that the percentages are laughably skewed.I'd love to know the statistics of what percentage of fights go to decision. Difference in strikes landed per minute, knockdowns in a fight, etc.
