After watching the card last night I can only conclude Dana had it right the first time

Women have no business bashing each other's faces in.

Although there are sporadic fights that are somewhat entertaining, overall I think WMMA has been a huge flop. There’s just not enough talent. And even if there were a lot of talented women out there, the majority of men don’t enjoy watching women compete in sports. It’s simple as that.
"WMMA has been a huge flop."
Agreed. Let's be honest though. WMMA is like the Super Bowl compared to Power Slap. Dana has flopped more times lately than Lebron trying to get to the foul line or one of those sissy soccer players trying to get an academy award.

Women's boxing is crap, even though there's been mass participation and national level amateur programs for decades.

So women's mma will probably always be crap.

Just make sure they're all hotties and the guys will tune in.
yup this 100%. if it's not going to even be remotely entertaining at the "highest levels" then AT LEAST make sure they are hot.

I don't enjoy it personally, the skill level has gone way down in the UFC since it came in and how many end in a decision? like 8 out of 10 of the WMMA fights go to decision, I always know its going to decision on the walk outs, there are occasional surprises but its few and far between. It needs its own separate org like Invicta. It actually looks better on TV than live, I've been to MMA events live and honestly the women and mens fights are a different sport, the women are like in super slow motion live, its like they are standing in treacle, the men are just a billion times faster with everything.

I tried my best and I like to give the benefit of the doubt, but I honestly find it hard to watch. What I believe UFC should do is make a WUFC and have all the women fight in that and keep is apart from the mens.. that way if people enjoy the womens fights then they can watch in that way. I think thats more than fair...

can't believe last night was the main event, that display of athleticism, was just poor. there are only at any given time, maybe 2-3 to actually watch for. besides that, the level of skills, athleticism, doesn't translate to "the best" when actually watching it. UFC should stop signing these absolute middle of the road, Thursday night cardio kickboxing types, and if they are going to pursue WMMA, sign only absolute killers of their respective field. Make it like the 90s again. Sign high level BJJ specialists, high level muay thai specialists, wrestlers, judo, etc and just let it fall where it may. There is nothing worse than watching a "well rounded" pitter patter fest where no implications exist and it is also not exciting to boot.

Weirdly enough the high level girls from other sports don't seem to do that well anymore. For every Ronda, Holly, Stamp or Dern you've got people like Claressa Shields (best female boxer, lost to a 1-0 girl in MMA), Heather Hardy (high level boxer, got beaten by absolute cans in MMA), Natasha Kuziunta (Olympic judo bronze, hardly setting the MMA world alight).

Firuza Sharipova seems to be doing okay so far though.

Tbh I'd say there's actually more high profile girls from other combat sports come over to MMA than there are mens.

I pretty much started to lose interest in ufc once they introduced wmma into it. I just don't like seeing women getting beaten up and I find also find their pitter patter style to be really boring.

I'm a brit and I don't like staying up late, I get too tired so I rarely watch it live. If its a 9pm prelim start time and say the 2 out of 3 or 4 fights are wmma, I just won't bother as I know I'll lose interest during these "breaks". To me, wmma is an inferior product and I reckon some fans will watch it in a weird virtue signalling way

Ares somewhere out there fuming.

ONE FC has way better female fighters and better depth than UFC

There is like maybe 5 elite female fighters in the UFC, the rest are soccer mom level. Its hard to justify $80 when the headliner was so lopsided like yesterday, Aldana's performance was embarrassing

There are very few WMMA fights I look forward to. Thug Rose WAS entertaining, Valentina seems to have lost a step and Nunes just retired.

I'd love to know the statistics of what percentage of fights go to decision. Difference in strikes landed per minute, knockdowns in a fight, etc.
The problem is that there are so few women's fights (relative to men) that the percentages are laughably skewed.

For example, there were 6 women's featherweight bouts in 2018 and 50% of them ended by knockout; that same year there were 34 men's heavyweight bouts and only 38% of them ended by knockout.

"It's a flop...women shouldn't be fighting...yadda yadda yadda..." Nothing will change. Women will continue to fight in the UFC. There is no debate. Just some angry and insecure Sherdoggers...
