After Successful MMA Debut, Gable Steveson to Headline Dirty Boxing 4 on Oct. 30

It's a can, but atleast Gable has balls to show off his standup. I'm interested in it kinda. I don't think even Brock would've done boxing when he started. Likely his opponent is a pig and punching bag, but we'll see Gable's striking skills, which has to be greater than zero to win.

Its a way for Gable to test his striking skills without affecting his pro MMA record, Jones also has a stake in Dirty Boxing so makes sense that he is doing this, still would of preferred another Rozenstruik main event.

You can see bare knuckle boxing is slowly starting to catch up to MMA in popularity. True UFC is the dominating market leader, but it's one of those trends like how kickboxing was big in the 90s and early 00s (The K-1 era), now BKB is moving up. Of course boxing is of course equally or more popular than the UFC.

Sounds like dirty boxing is another format to throw into the mix now, hand strikes only and elbows, but with small gloves like MMA (not no gloves like BKB or big gloves like boxing or kickboxing), and you can punch or elbow them on the ground. Interesting format, will see if it catches on. I personally wish that kickboxing would make a resurgence in popularity.

This guys striking and ground and pound seemed lethal in his last fight, he ought to dominate in this format. In some ways it seems a bit petty to me to not count wins in fights very similar to MMA to your MMA record, like if you win a BKB fight or a fight in a format like this. To be honest modern MMA is a limited format compared to earlier MMA, where heatbutts were allowed or soccer kicks, knees to downed opponents, et cetera.

Also the first event to take place outside of Miami, good to see they are starting to venture out.
 
Not that I matter, but I'm not a fan of this. I'd rather see him fight MMA for a while before doing side quests,
 
Someone must have told him he can't do all this side quests stuff when he officially signs a UFC contract so he's getting it done early.

This. If they are going to pad his record, as they probably should at first, he should focus on MMA fights.
 
Gable dun goofed and consequences will never be the same. Call the cyber police.

But for real, he's gonna follow the same arch as Satoshi Ishii. Stud in his own sport, but middling results in MMA or whatever obscure thing will take a chance on his unreliable ass.

I'm just curious....he's had 1 fight and no martial arts background. He spent the last few years training to be a pro wrestler.

Who should he be facing where it's not considered "padding his record"?
