Gable Steveson is taking a detour on his road to the UFC.

The Olympic gold medalist will headline Dirty Boxing 4 against Billy Swanson on Oct. 30 in Nashville. The promotion announced the heavyweight bout on Wednesday. DBX utilizes four-ounce gloves and three-minute rounds with elbows and “conditional ground-and-pound” allowed as part of its rule set. DBX has acquired the services of a number of UFC veterans in recent months, including the likes of Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Bryan Battle and others.

Steveson Rolled in MMA Debut

Steveson made his professional MMA debut on Sept. 12, when he dispatched Braden Peterson via TKO 1:38 into the opening stanza at LFA 217. In addition to winning a gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the 2020 Olympics, Steveson captured two national championships and earned NCAA All-American honors five times at the University of Minnesota. He was also a two-time Dan Hodge Trophy winner.

Before shifting his focus to MMA, Steveson had stints in the WWE developmental system and in Buffalo Bills training camp in 2024. More recently, he returned to Minnesota to complete his college eligibility, and he suffered an upset loss to Wyatt Hendrickson in the finals of the 2025 NCAA National Championships. Steveson has spent time training with former UFC heavyweight champ Jon Jones and has also worked at Syndicate MMA in Las Vegas.

It would be hilarious if Gable gets chinned on the way up way before the UFC, especially by a big fat guy

Big Country showed that HWs can be whooped without having the body of a weight lifter .
