AEW AEW XLVI: Oh You Didn't Know?

He's a mid-carder with an inflated sense of self worth, a hot wife, and a god-awful tattoo who is only where he is because of his Daddy.

This is an extremely ignorant statement so I feel I should take this wonderful opportunity to enlighten anyone that may be confused as to why Cody is the hero we all need and deserve

Hes where he is because he busted his ass on the indies and hustled nonstop on 2 different continents for several years to become the star that he is
He got over in Jew Japan, He got over in AAA, he got over in ROH, he got over in the NWA, he got over in APW, etc. etc. on his own, not because of who his daddy was
His hard work and success outside of WWE is a big part of why AEW exists right now, he showed a lot of people that there was real money to be made outside of Vinces bubble

He absolutely takes things too far a lot of times and would do well to have an editor talking him down sometimes because he treats every match like Starrcade 85 but at least he takes this shit seriously and isnt out there doing comedy spots with Michael Nakazawa or getting into a dance competition with Marko Stunt

And in conclusion, anyone trying to dismiss all his accomplishments simply because theyre not a fan is downright shameful and without honor

I'm willing to concede as follows (and only as follows): He was pretty OK as Stardust.

Random thoughts on Dynamite:
- Punk squash was the right move imo as we all knew the outcome anyways. It somehow put Wardlow more over and creates an interesting dynamic between MJF, Spears and Wardlow.
- Great promo by Rhodes. Too bad it was ruined by the ocassional marks that wanna put theirselves over.
- I feel like they don´t really have direction for the House of Black storyline and you can tell the audience doesn´t feel any conection to it too. Julia should´ve turn on the varsity blondes and join the dark side. As always killer entrance from Malakai, but a varsity jacket on that entrance is a big NO.
- They are doing a good job making the world champion seem more irrelevant as weeks go on. A program with Archer is not gonna help him either. I don´t think Hangman ever closed the show as champion.

I fell with this record thing they´re going the boxing route, where they want to protect so many people that you basically have a bunch of meaningless matches every week until an eventual match where you really have no idea who´s winning. Now those matches are big, but it makes for a pretty weekly boring show. There is nothing on that show that would make the casual viewer say "I gotta tune in next week because I need to know what´s going to happen". They don´t even have one big storyline going on.

I think the average viewer will want to tune in for Sammy vs. Cody in a unification ladder match and Adam Cole (Bay Bay) in a street fight. Both of those are also established programs with Cody/Sammy going back more than a month and Cole/OC even longer.

The Sammy Cody is intriguing just because Cody is on the verge on turning. IMHO there is nothing intriguing about the Cole vs OC feud.

Other than the MJF vs Punk feud (which is basically a reheat of the MJF-Jericho feud), there is nothing going on right now that would make you think it will have a big blowout match at the next PPV that is less than a month and a half away. For a company that only has 4 PPVs a year and prides itself on long term booking, it sure doesn´t look like it.

Anyone know why Lee Johnson & Brock Anderson vs FTR got scratched?

Anyone know why Lee Johnson & Brock Anderson vs FTR got scratched?

I reported it in the PWD thread, Dooho, you should really do a better job of following my every move imo

Lee Johnson vs FTR was scratched last night because of Covid protocol
I wonder what this means for the huge Rock N Roll Express vs FTR match this Saturday night in Spartanburg
