I just had to google what a TV license is.

That's fucking wild that the BBC can control whether or not you watch something unrelated to the BBC.

Watching something non BBC related on a laptop: "fuck you, pay me" - BBC what the fuck

Learning that the BBC is ran by the government is insane as well. I thought it was just a corporate over the air TV service like we have out here in the states with ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, and CW. Our one government TV service PBS is basically the most lackluster funded shit that doesn't have any real TV shows or sports or any of that shit, it's all news and children's education shows.

If you watch BBC services than fine, but if you watch ITV, C4 or any other channel, which also had ads every ten minutes, then you still have to pay them.
