Yep exactly. It was a second rate scream wi to myers. And I like that lol. I love all the scream rip offs and Kevin Williamson I elated film of that era. It’s insane how Scream-ish it is watching it now. Makes sense that the main writer for Scream did the initial script and several uncredited rewrites. “Just scratch out Ghsotface and put Michael in!” Not even how it’s written though, just how it looks and is filmed
I prefer a killer you can sympathize with similar to wrestling when a heel is right. But my main issue with the Friday films is poor character development of all the other characters outside of Jason.Lotta similarities between the two but I prefer:

When it comes to slasher horror.
The last one wasn’t that bad, just not a fan when these movies try to make the viewer sympathetic towards the being killing everyone.
Like the idea of the antagonist being moreso a ‘force of nature’ instead of “ah, their childhood sucked, i get why they’re killing everything”.
..similar to monster/kaiju movies. The first Cloverfield movie was good like that. Big monster takes the city and it’s inhabitants to FSU.
Besides Resurrection, Halloween always takes itself seriously. Even 6, which is God awful, plays it totally straight the entire way. There’s a tinge of comedy to the Fridays once Hockey mask Jason is in full effect.I prefer a killer you can sympathize with similar to wrestling when a heel is right. A lot more than a tinge! Which I really don’t mind. I actually really liked the Friday reboot movie. Like really liked it. It’s just the poor, sometimes almost completely absent, character development that bothers me.Besides Resurrection, Halloween always takes itself seriously. It actually was really good. The opening sequence of Jason slaughtering the campers in horribly brutal ways with no over the top camp was genuinely disturbing. Yep. they definitely made the right choice combining the first two films in the remake. Any idea why no sequels were made? And yes I freaking love the openingIt actually was really good. The opening sequence of Jason slaughtering the campers in horribly brutal ways with no over the top camp was genuinely disturbing. Top tier slasher work
I didn't like that reboot much at all. It just seemed so lifeless, and not really fun compared to what Friday was. I guess it was a hard reboot to be a real horror movie, and not a joke it had become, but even so it was leagues better than the Nightmare on Elm Street reboot! Does anyone even remember that coming out?A lot more than a tinge! Which I really don’t mind. I actually really liked the Friday reboot movie. Like really liked it. This moment on, pretnend the anoes remake doesn’t exist.

This is an absolute total guess but the production company that made it is the one owned by Michael Bay that also did the Texas Chainsaw remake and the Elm Street remake. They also did the Purge shortly after Friday and Elm Street, which was obviously a massive success.. So I would spitball that they decided to put more effort into creating their own franchise rather than continuing to reboot things. Seeing as they have released like a half dozen Purge movies now plus a seriesAny idea why no sequels were made? And yes I freaking love the opening

It stunk! You just cant reboot such an iconic character that also speaks. It had to be Robert Englund. JEH just sounded like Rorschach the entire time and pulled me right out of the movie. One of the worst remakes of all time. The Nightmare on Elm Street remake can fuck off forever. Fuck that movie. Still can't believe they turned Freddy into a school janitor that was a chomo. Original Freddy that was a child serial killer was much more scary. They did my dawg Freddy so damn dirty turning him into a diddler.
