Buddy had his option picked up like a month ago. He told his friends that he's in AEW another year or 2.

Nah, he had an eye injury in training, instead of pulling out of the fight he continued on, during the fight he suffered a detached retina. There was a lot that went wrong after that including a misdiagnosis of what the actual problem was and a botched surgery that left his eye permanently fucked up. Think he went in for surgery for it around 10 times to try and save it but he gave up on the end
