even as a follower of aew i find their belts confusing.. just realised this is the one that was for the tournament and not the one OC and pac held.

Its kinda odd that a tournament win can be defended by someone who wasnt in the tournament.

So what happens next year.. presumably the holder has to enter

The tournament winner just became the first champion. The belt wasn't a trophy.

They confirmed on commentary whoever the current champion is will enter the next tournament.
