Well it was supposed to be in a stadium because that's been the theme of previous grand slams.
I missed this one earlier and don't really want to carry on the discussion, but it was called Grand Slam because it was held at the tennis venue that holds the US Open which is one of the 4 tennis grand slam tournaments. It was named as a tennis theme for Arthur Ashe.
