It was a poor finish. Nobody actually believed it would happen. Now the heels like heroic for sacrificing the win to save their friend and the faces look like diabolical savages for wanting to burn a man alive.
Darby looking like a diabolical savage is a bad thing? Don't think so

His gimmick is more masochism than anything else. But if you're supposed to be the noble hero, torching a man is overkill.
Not like he didn't already do it and crowds didn't cheer him for it haha this time he just got something he wanted out of it and was smart about it

well i guess next time for this match might as well bring a gun it's a no dq match. Enjoyed the match the end not so much

What happened to Swerve and Hangman? I turned away for one second.

Darby has literally lit Jack Perry on fire before on PPV lol

Don't think he's ever claimed to be noble.

Yup, just run someone through with a sword, shoot someone with a handgun (Hair is gonna be king of these matches now).. fuck it bring a machine gun and just start mowing people down.

Suspension of disbelief still needs to be a thing and unfortunately it's becoming harder and harder to achieve.

tho honestly if you think about it in a normal championship match for the heel where they can keep the belt with a dq why wouldn't the heel just hit a low blow as soon the bell rings

Long long ago, in a galaxy far far away, they would occasionally mention things like the winner's purse and what not. Basically, you got paid more if you won, so getting DQ'd was a last resort to save your belt

Got ya makes sense wouldn't wanna take money out of your own pocket.

It's another case of suspension of disbelief. We all could see the gel on his pants and boots in that instance, and we even saw the fire extinguishers on the platform so we knew they'd kept the risk as low as they could. In this match we could see that they had none of those safeguards in place, so we knew immolation wasn't happening.

I was speaking in exaggerations about him being noble, but there are still lengths to which a babyface shouldn't go.

They did a water spot with Perry right before that to get him looking wet. "We could see the gel" is BS. If they didn't do the fire spot, you didn't see gel, you saw a wet guy. You knew it was gel in hindsight.

Why wouldn't a wrestling company have fire extinguishers near the stage with pyro going off throughout the night?
