AEW AEW CXLIV: Tranquilo

I feel you.......I still think it's bullshit.

Just because someone may have pissed you off enough to get fired, there's no reason to make sure that person shouldn't be allowed to seek employment elsewhere, that's just bad business to me.

And to do this over Andrade of all people.......I get if say a top guy like Roman would ever do that, but some guy you barely could find anything to do on your show.......just let them go, what exactly is he going to do for your competitors business? You know?
I think they are using him to set a precedent for any future releases.

Kind of a: If we are willing to go this far over Andrade, just think what we will do for someone we view as important.

Anyone who thinks of signing with WWE better really look through the contract.

I sure wouldn't sign that, dream or not and people looking to re-sign sure better too.

It doesn't matter. IF they give you a non compete, and you sign it, good luck. There are even less protections for them.

It does matter, like 40 of the 50 states have protections for independent contractors when it comes to non competes and even the ones that fully enforce non competes only fully enforce them while the contractor is employed by the company. Theres a ton of cases of contractors winning lawsuits against companies for ridiculous non competes even in those states.

I've read so much about this shit over the years because of wrestling. I feel almost like a dumbass for even bothering to learn about it.

Then again, if another company asks you about someone you fired, you tell them why you fired them.
In America you actually can't say why you fired someone. Only questions you're legally allowed to answer are if the person worked for you and if they are able to be rehired.

They should really start looking at them injury clauses as well. It was shitty when AEW held Fenix hostage with that injury clause just to be petty.

Wrestlers want to make a great living wrestling, but the only two companies that exist for them to make that great living have these bullshit contracts. It's either sign and get fucked or just get fucked.

Now the petty no compete makes sense.

Bryan Alvarez is now saying TKO is trying to enforce a 1 year non compete without pay for any talent that is fired with cause. They're saying it's confirmed to be standard in all TKO contracts now.

Either Alvarez is lying, or getting lied to by people in WWE or TKO was just waiting until they day they get destroyed in court or hoping talents wouldn't want to get buried by lawyer costs in court.

Preventing someone from making money in their career for one year seems insane.
